About Society
Since 1983 Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology (ISSST) has actively indulged in the promotion of basic research in Colloid and Surface science as an interdisciplinary area of research in country, keeping in view the vast application potential and relevance to understanding the intricate life process. The Society organizes, inter alia, National Conferences on Surfactants, Emulsions and Bio-Colloids (NATCOSEB) biennially in different parts of the country. After great participation from the Northern region of the country J & K, the Society approved the organization of NATCOSEB XV at the Department of Chemistry, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat GUJARAT. The main object of the present Conference is to bring together the researcher working in different parts of country and world-wide on a common platform for mutual interactions and exchange of ideas with a view to critically review the current status and the emerging treads on the main theme of the Conference.

Announcement
A three day National conference on Surfactants, Emulsion & Biocolloids is being organized at Department of Chemistry, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat from 18-20thNovember, 2011. A number of experts from all over India and abroad are expected to participate in the conference. We also expect large participation from industries, academia & research institutions.

15th National Conference on Surfactants, Emulsions and Biocolloids (NATCOSEB-XV) November 18-20, 2011. Department of Chemistry, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat 395 007, Gujarat - INDIA.

Introduction and Scope :

Surface active agents (Surfactants) and Colloidal Systems are important across a range of industries, such as the detergent, food, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, cosmetics, textile, polymer, paint and petroleum industries. A detailed understanding of their formation, control of stability, rheology, properties and applications is required in those industries. Colloid and Interfacial Science thus constitutes a multidisciplinary field which embodies concepts that are fundamental to understanding these complex fluids (soft matter) and nano-structured materials at both microscopic and macroscopic level and hence to the design of a wide range of systems of great practical interest. It is a field where chemists/physicists/chemical engineers/material scientists/biotechnologists can all work together under one umbrella. The Fifteenth National Conference on Surfactants, Emulsions & Biocolloids (NATCOSEB-XV) in Surat (Nov 18-20, 2011) aims to focus on the recent development in both the theory and practice pertaining to surfactants, emulsions and biocolloids. The Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology (ISSST) provides a platform for interaction between scientists and technologists working in diverse field of surface science and technology in India, and promotes interaction with the international fraternity. The conference will enable researchers interested in colloids and surfaces to meet present and discuss issues related to current developments in this field. NATCOSEB-XV will have several prominent speakers/experts. The conference will consist of plenary and invited talks, oral presentations and posters The deliberations will cover the following areas: Surfactants and their self-assembly (micelles, microemulsions, vesicles and liquid crystalline phases), surfactant-surfactant, surfactant-polymer (including bio-macromolecules), surfactantdye mixed systems, micellar catalysis, reverse micelles, stimuli responsive dispersions, magnetic dispersions (ferrofluids). Emulsions and other colloidal dispersions such as foams, gels, dispersion technology based nanomaterials. Fundamental and applied aspects of interface science and engineering including adsorption from solution, super hydrophobic surfaces, wetting and surface functionalization, colloid stability. Biocolloids and bio-macromolecular solutions and interactions in aqueous media, biomaterials, biomimetics and nanobiotechnology (delivery systems, nanomedicines).
