Applied Engineering Sciences is designed to develop an individual who: Brings to the workplace a knowledge of business, management, and logistics, grounded in calculus, basic sciences, and engineering sciences; Can apply the rigor of their education and training to a diverse set of problems; Is prepared to work at the interfaces of planning, design, production, procurement, marketing, distribution, sales, and management; Can effectively communicate across diverse professional disciplines; and Is knowledgeable of contemporary technological and societal issues and can facilitate the effective deployment of new technologies.

Biosystems Engineers

Biosystems engineering integrates biology with engineering principles to address complex issues in the areas of food safety and supply; air, water, and soil pollution; and diminishing natural resources. Biosystems engineers are responsible for designing resourceful solutions to technical problems involving living things and the natural environment. They also study life sciences and the ways biological systems interact with the environment. Potential employers include food processing companies, soil and water consulting firms, and government agencies.

Chemical Engineers
Chemical engineering explores the processing of materials and the production or utilization of energy through chemical and biochemical reactions. Many products that we use every single day are made by chemical engineers who use raw materials and turn them into something useful. Chemical engineers play a key role in producing antibiotics, soft drinks, and even make-up. There are make-up. also many chemical engineers who work with petroleum and plastics. Chemical engineers work at finding solutions plastics. to environmental hazards, such as pollution and harmful chemicals. chemicals. Graduates typically work in the chemical processing industry, biotechnology, environmental remediation, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and plastics.

Civil Engineers
One of the oldest and largest branches of engineering is civil engineering. Without civil engineers our society would not be the way it is today. Civil engineering involves structures such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, roads and railways. railways. Recall the Great Wall of China for example, it is considered one of civil engineering s greatest accomplishments, stretching more than 6,000 miles long! The planning, designing, and supervision of construction of high-rise buildings, airports, water hightreatment centers, and sanitation plants is all done by civil engineers. Eventually, it will be civil engineers who make it possible for humans to live on Mars! Careers are available in the areas of government, consulting, construction, research, and education .

Computer Scientists

Computer Scientists take care of all parts of computer systems including design, construction, and operation. They investigate the processing and communication of information, with specialized study in computer graphics, databases, programming languages, multimedia, systems programming, and security systems. Work for Computer Scientist is plentiful because companies put logic devices in virtually everything; cars, televisions, tractors. Graduates are employed in industry, government, software designers, and teachers.

Electrical Engineers
Electrical engineering majors explore the analysis of electrical and electronic circuits and devices, signal processing, and the design and analysis of modern electrical systems. So...if you turn it on, chances are that an electrical engineer had something to do with it. Electrical engineers move information from place to place. We can thank them for cell phones, satellite transmissions, and television. In addition, electrical engineers are the big movers and shakers of the energy world, literally. They take energy from hydroelectric plants, solar panels, fuel cells, and turbines and move it to factories, homes, and businesses. Career opportunities include circuit design, materials processing, communications, robotics, and biomedical engineering.

Environmental Engineers
Environmental engineers work to prevent damage and fix problems that already exsist within our environment. They assist in developing new recycling methods and sewer treatment plans. Reducing the amount of pesticides and air pollution are just two specific examples of what some environmental engineers' goals are. They seek not only to keep the environment modern, but also safe for all its habitants.

Material Science Engineers

Materials science engineers develop, change, and use different processes to turn raw materials into useful substances with desirable properties. Materials engineers work with ceramics, plastics, metal, and or, more specifically, they make these products useful to us. They also create stronger new materials that resist corrosion. Teams of materials engineers created the U.S. Air Force's "stealth" technology that makes a fighter plane's surface nearly invisible to radar. Other focuses of materials engineering majors include the investigation of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. Graduates in this field are recruited by many industries, including aerospace, electronics, automotive, and biomedical.

Mechanical Engineers
you would consider to be a machine, from jet airplanes to coffee pots to bicycles. Mechanical engineering applies the fundamental principles of mechanics and thermosciences to design. You can thank mechanical engineers for thrilling roller coaster rides like the Top Thrill Dragster. But mechanical engineering is not limited to just machines. It also influences products such as shoes, light bulbs, and even doors. There are mechanical engineering job opportunities in areas of air conditioning and refrigeration, automotives, manufacturing, welding, and robotics. Other careers cross over into other Engineering disciplines, working on everything from artificial organs to massive manufacturing machines.
