THE CMO

1. WHAT IS THE CURRENT CMO THAT IS BEING IMPLEMENTED IN YOUR INSTITUTION?

Of course, its the latest CMO. No. 14.

2. WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS CMO WHEN COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS CMOS?
CMO 14 is more comprehensive than the previous CMO 30. Concepts are specified and emphasis is made on hospital-based setting. In addition, the students are given opportunities to be exposed to the various levels of healthcare with various client groups in various settings. The students are made aware of the competency-based approach and the core competencies under the 11 key areas of responsibility.

3. ARE THERE ANY DISADVANTAGES THAT YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED/ENCOUNTERED UPON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS CURRENT CMO?
Well, on of the disadvantage is how subjects are arranged especially Theoretical Foundation of Nursing which is offered in the 1st semester of the of the 1st year where freshmen have no background in nursing. Likewise, subjects like NCM 104 & NCM 105 are both offered in one semester which caused congestion especially with additional subjects like Research 1 and Elective.

6. CAN YOU CITE SOME EXAMPLES OF LATEST TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION/EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE IN YOUR SCHOOL WHICH ARE UTILIZED TO FACILITATE NURSING EDUCATION?

Yes. We do have our student handbook. Absolutely, we are strictly implementing our policies.

Class and clinical attendance are very important, wearing of complete uniform both in the classroom and RLE setting, decorum in/off campus, Discipline, academic and clinical performance.

A written warning is issued to students for activities listed as major, minor offenses. A copy is then furnished for the adviser, guidance counselor, dean and to the parents/guardian. Suspension is determined by the nature of the activity. The student is required to leave the school on a specified period of time. Dismissal- outright dismissal or expulsion from the school rendered in writing. All parties concerned are furnished a copy.

The most common is not wearing complete uniform. In this case, the students attention is called, required to submit incidental report in 3 copies and deducted points from his/her grades (Attitude).

As the colleges academic coordinator, one way of helping enhancing the quality of education is to assist students in all their academic needs. Make available all resources including books and internet access to ease research works. Introduce concepts using multi-media resources. Instructors who will be teaching the concepts should be effective and efficient.
