HOW MANY SQUARE ARE THERE?

 HAZARD Phenomena that pose threat to people , structures or economicassets and which may cause disaster.
VUNERABILITY Degree of loss (0% to 100%) resulting from potential damaging phenomenon RISK Is the probability of meeting danger or suffering harm or loss.

Hazard Mapping:
Is the process of identifying and displaying the spatial variation of

events or physical condition.

e.g. potential ground shaking flood plains, hazmat sites, etc.

HAZARD ASSESSMENT
The probability or change of an event occuring in a particular area

based on geological evidence, historical data, and projections derived from theoretical analysis.

RISK ASSESSMENT
The risk assessment defines the nature and severity of the risk

problems through two primary steps. RISK IDENTIFICATION RISK ANALYSIS

RISK IDENTIFICATION
Focuses on four tasks:
Clarifying stakeholder risk management goals and

objectives. Identifying what exposures are necessary to accomplish those goals and objectives. Identifying potential hazards Assessing the vulnerability of identified exposure to the potential hazard.

RISK ANALYSIS
Examines the significance of identified

risks on the communitys capability to achieve defined goals and objectives. Gaps in understanding the nature of the hazard and uncertainties in expected hazard impacts lead to less accurate risk assessments.

RISK EVALUATION
Is a processs for evaluating what to do about the risk, including

evaluating the feasibility of possible risk interventions.

What to do?

Draw a SPOT- MAP of your community . (roads, mountain, hills, ricefield, sea, creek, rivers, bridges, communication lines, electric grids, etc.) After drawing all the lifelines, draw all the structures in your community. (Houses, Buildings, Church,etc) Identify the hazards that probably occur in your community.
