Printers can be divided into two main groups, impact printerandnon-impact printer. Impact printer produces text and images when tiny wire pins on print head strike the ink ribbon by physically contacting the paper. Non-impact printer produces text and graphics on paper without actually striking the paper. Printers can also be categorized based on the print method or print technology. The most popular ones areinkjet printer, laser printer,dot-matrix printerandthermal printer. Among these, only dotmatrix printer is impact printer and the others are nonimpact printers. Some printers are named because they are designed for specific functions, such asphoto printers, portable printersand all-in-one/multifunction printers. Photo printers and portable printers usually use inkjet print method whereas multifunction printers may use inkjet or laser print method. Inkjet printers and laser printers are the most popular printer types for home and business use. Dot matrix printer was popular in 70s and 80s but has been 4/15/12

Daisy wheel printersuse an impact printing technology invented in 1969 byDavid S. LeeatDiablo Data Systems. It uses interchangeable preformed type elements, each with typically 96glyphs, to generate high-quality output comparable to premiumtypewriterssuch as theIBM Selectric, but two to three times faster. Daisy-wheel printing was used in electronictypewriters, word processorsandcomputer 4/15/12 systemsfrom 1972. According
Alaser printeris a common type ofcomputer printerthat rapidly produces high quality text and graphics onplain paper. As with digitalphotocopiersandmultif unction printers(MFPs), laser printers employ axerographicprinting process, but differ from analog photocopiers in that the image is produced by the direct scanning of alaserbeam 4/15/12 across the printer's

In computing, animage scanneroften abbreviated to justscanneris a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to adigital image. Common examples found in offices are variations of thedesktop (or flatbed) scannerwhere the document is placed on a glass window for 4/15/12 scanning.Hand-held
