PROJECT ON VEGETABLE SEED PRODUCTION & FARMERS TRAINING

( An NHM Project)

NAFED AND ITS ACTIVITIES


NAFED an apex cooperative organization helps farmers in getting remunerative prices through marketing of oil seeds such as mustard seed, sunflower seed, food grains, pulses, spices and horticulture produce As central nodal agency of GOI procured mustard seed, sunflower seed, safflower seed, soyabean, gram etc. valuing Rs. 3840.13 cr under PSS Achieved a turnover of 3186.17 cr & net profit of 14.28 cr in 2005-06 Distributed seeds of various crops valuing Rs. 30cr to SSCs,SADs

Constructed 3000 MTs capacity warehouse(Bakshi ka Talab), 4000 MTs capacity cold storage( Lawrence Road, Delhi) & 10,000MTs capacity WH( Ganjbasoda & Dewas in MP & Sriganganagar in RAJ.) under construction. Constructed 3000 MTs capacity warehouse(Bakshi ka Talab), 4000 MTs capacity cold storage( Lawrence Road, Delhi) & 10,000MTs capacity WH( Ganjbasoda & Dewas in MP & Sriganganagar in RAJ.) under construction. Total exports in 2005-06 were Rs 601.55cr. (Onion,Potato, Soyabean,bajra, Rice,Wheat) Marketed fertilizer worth Rs137 cr in UP,MP, Assam,Punjab,TN,Bihar, Uttranchal in 2005-06 Purchased horticulture commodities & oilseeds valuing 17.72 cr & 167.14 cr resp. in 2005-06

DEVELOPMENT OF SEED INFRASTRUCTURE


Infrastructure to facilitate proper handling, storage & packing of seeds. Nafed has proposed 4 units in 4 states of A.P,Karnataka,M.P & Maharashtra to the tune of Rs. 76 Lacs. Cost of infrastructure for seeds for 1 unit is Rs.19 lacs.

TRAINING OF FARMERS DURING 2007-08
