Pepsi Cola Company began in 1898.The drink is the Invention of Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist and drugstore Owner in New Bern Pepsi merged with Frito lay in 1965 Pepsi also owned KFC , Pizza Hut and Talco Bell PepsiCo was named Company Of The Year by Beverage Industry Magazine in 2009

PepsiCos diversification: 1.PHASE-I 1960s: carbonated soft drink maker to a diversified food and drink maker. 2.PHASE-2 Diversified portfolio helped compete with super giants like Wal Mart 3.PHASE-3 45% increase in sales and a fourfold increase in its net profits between 1996 and 2004. 2004:PepsiCo world's third largest food and beverage company.

In 1934, the company moved to a new headquarters in Long Island City, New York Pepsi is a multinational company. It operates in several countries. Pepsi operates in 200 countries and provide with more than 500 beverages and snacks.

ECONOMIC DIMENSIONS
Beverage and snack foods maker PepsiCo India clocked its highest volume growth in a decade- with its beverage business growing over 32% in calendar year 09 India topped beverage volume growth in the Asia ,MidEast and Africa region In the October December quarter too , India was a highest growing market in terms of volume at 21%. The companys portfolio of carbonated and non carbonated brands witnessed robust growth with mountain dew emerging as a fastest growing beverage brand in the industry

Net revenue grew 12%, roughly three times the rate of global GDP growth. Division operating profit grew 10%.* Earnings per share grew 13%.* Total return to shareholders was 26%. Return on invested capital was 29%. Cash flow from operations was $6.9 billion.

Social Responsibility
PepsiCos involvement in Indian agriculture worked towards agri sustainability, crop diversification, & improving quality of life of farmers. Eg: PepsiCo Tropicana & Punjab Agri Export Corporation PepsiCo works on reducing greenhouse gas

After the 2005 pesticide controversy, Pepsi Co India changed their strategy towards the market through the OYE BUBBLY and YOUNGISTAAN concepts Advertised Pepsi through stars like Shah Rukh Khan and youth icons like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Deepika Padukone. The target audience was the youth who could be influenced and persuaded to buy the product Won the confidence of people helped increase its sales all over India. IBA is PepsiCos single point of interaction with the government and helps the company comply with safety guidelines and other regulations

The Indian Soft Drinks Manufacturers Association (ISDMA)


ISDMA representing by the two cola companies is also being merged with the IBA .This association helps to regulate the value added tax imposed by the government

COMPETITORS
Pepsi faces a stiff competition from coke and fights for profits and other resources. Advertisement and marketing plays a major role in getting rid of the competitors. Well designed bottles and Pepsis association with football had attracted more customers and took over a great market share from coke.
