Relationship to Learner
MENTOR Private, Individual COACH BUDDY

Private or Public Partly Private but Individual or some aspects can Group be Public. E.g. paper work

Relationship to Learners Manager


MENTOR Line Manager cannot be the mentor COACH BUDDY The line manager Line manager can be the coach normally appoints B. from amongst his / her own team

Contact with Learner


MENTOR Intermittent, medium to long term. COACH Can be very short term as well as medium to long term BUDDY Short term & frequent during induction period. May take considerable time.

Main Agenda
MENTOR COACH BUDDY Build confidence of learner, e.g. know their way around, who does what

Context within Content of work which Learners to improve job work is done i.e. performance help person plan & decide the future

Proximity
MENTOR COACH BUDDY Must be face to face, the two people should ideally work in close proximity

Need not always Difficult to involve face to achieve without face contact face to face contact.

Outcomes
MENTOR COACH BUDDY Person has completed induction successfully
