Six Million and One By Mary Carol McGlone

I wish I could turn back the hands of time, and undo all the evil that was done; If I were there, would it today be said - gone are six million and one ? Or would I have stood by and watched on, as one by one you walked that death-determined path, Would I have sat by silent, with no protest, until your very last ? Watching on while mothers comfort their unknowing little ones, Or would they be able to say today - gone are six million and one ? No, I wasn't there back then, I will never know what I would have done. But Israel, I am here today, even though I am only one; I won't sit by idly watching on as your enemies plan for your demise ! I won't sit by silent while the world refuses to hear your cries ! I guess today is a good time to prove to myself just what I would have done, Today, I will lift my heart, hands and voice, even though I am only one.

Session 1 Why the Jews ?

The History of Anti-Semitism

If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one per cent. of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star-dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of; but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also away out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers.
He has made a marvelous fight in this world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality? Mark Twain

I will insist the Hebrews have [contributed] more to civilize men than any other nation. If I was an atheist and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations ... They are the most glorious nation that ever inhabited this Earth. The Romans and their empire were but a bubble in comparison to the Jews. They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind more and more happily than any other nation, ancient or modern.

Genesis Chapter 15 : The Covenant Between The Parts

1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying: 'Fear not, Abram, I am thy shield, thy reward shall be exceeding great.' 2 And Abram said: 'O Lord GOD, what wilt Thou give me, seeing I go hence childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?' 3 And Abram said: 'Behold, to me Thou hast given no seed, and, lo, one born in my house is to be mine heir.' 4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him saying: 'This man shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.'

5 And He brought him forth abroad, and said: 'Look now toward heaven, and count the stars, if thou be able to count them'; and He said unto him: 'So shall thy seed be.'

6 And he believed in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness. 7 And He said unto him: 'I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.' 8 And he said: 'O Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

9 And He said unto him: 'Take Me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.'
10 And he took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half over against the other; but the birds divided he not.

11 And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away. 12 And it came to pass, that, when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and, lo, a dread, even a great darkness, fell upon him. 13 And He said unto Abram: 'Know that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 15 and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge; and afterward shall they come out with great substance. But thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

16

And in the fourth generation they shall come back hither; for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.'

17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and there was thick darkness, behold a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces.

18 In that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: 'Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates

The 3 Components of Judaism which cause Anti-Semitism 1. Belief in a God, who makes Moral Demands

It was Judaism wrote the Reverend Edward Flannery of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, that brought the concept of a God-given universal moral law into the world; willingly or not the Jew carries the burden of God in history and for that has never been forgiven.

Sigmund Freud explained:

"Jews are hated not so much because they killed Jesus, but because they produced him." ( A clear reason for the hatred of the Totalitarian for the Jew)

2. Jewish Law demands not only belief in moral standards, but their consistent, active practice in during every aspect of daily life.

A Jew who keeps Kosher and strictly adheres to the Sabbath Laws differentiates himself from the outside world

3. Jewish National Identity, defines a Jew not only as a member of a religion, but also as a member of a people

As stated previously, being a member of a people saddled with this challenge of being chosen sometimes perceives its status as a heavy burden as well as a privilege.
