The Wembley Examiner

This image helped me visualise the name for my local newspaper. It helped me gain an understanding of other newspapers so my local newspaper does not seem familiar as I want mine to be seen as unique and different. Times and Mail is often used so I researched on other words that may intrigue the public such as Examiner. The Wembley Examiner: Will provide information about its local area Wembley and let readers know things occurring in their area so they become aware and headlines and images will encourage them to buy The Wembley Examiner.

BOY,16, MURDERED IN SCHOOL/ AMBIGUIOS PUPILS POLITCALLY FIGHT TO IMPROVE THEIR SCHOOL
Petty arguments led to this boys death. Was he innocent? I decided to choose this because as I am a member of the public I know what the readers look for; an eye catching headline and an interesting story behind it. Also a lot of teen riots and violence has been happening recently so Ive balanced my front page with a bad article about youth and a good one. Ive used a rhetorical question to my lead headline to show that behind every murder may not lay a victim and you will discover this through out my article. But in order to find out you MUST BUY IT ! First head pupils are elected by students My front page is very controversial as it contains positive and negative aspects of youth today. From this section you see pupils trying to fight for the well being of their school and forming a legacy as their school was tarnished by a fraud as the Head girl stated.

My Local newspaper will contain many different features to encourage my target audience (a more mature crowd; 17+) to buy my paper. Features such as posters, and winning free tickets by entering a local competition, eg. Creating a local poster for the new face of my magazine or competitions including leisure.

FREE: This is often used to draw in the readers, and I would also like to use this within my local magazine by offering free posters and an additional magazine or gift when purchasing my paper every month.

Aimed at- Citizens living in Wembley. Cost- 60p, but if an exciting event has occurred in the media, for example; William and Kates wedding, some special editions may be FREE. On sale- Every fourth night Contents- Local news, People within the borough, Sports, Leisure etc. How will it be different ?In order to make my Newspaper stand out, questionnaires and competitions will take place once a month and this will be affordable from the profit the local newspaper is making. Gap in the Market- My text will hook in the audience by headlines and competitions (prizes) It will have all necessary conventions of a newspaper such as Masthead, headline, 4 colour pic, dateline, Front cover flash etc. With in the articles and headlines I will use Rhetorical questions so the audience feel involved within the story. Font- This will be simple and Bold, but at the most of 3 different fonts as I want my newspaper to be taken seriously. Colour- Colour will only be used in the images and advertisement so it will stand out more and attract the readers. Bold black font will be used for the main headline so it leaps out to the public.

LanguageWith in the Media they tend to use controversial language and catchy headlines and pictures in order to get the readers attention. Within my local newspaper I shall be doing this as puns and rhetorical questions may be included. RepresentationMy two stories (main and lead) both involve youth. Youth has been a major part of the media lately relating to the riots. Ive balanced out my stories as Ive used a positive and negative story involving youth. This would be leaping out and either the younger audience as they may want to achieve and not deviate from the norm. And the adult audience may be intrigued to read this story as they can be educated of the younger generation and may be a social warning to protect their kids. AudienceMy target audience are specifically for those that are 16/17 and Over. This is a more mature audience that will enjoy consuming information based on their area. I will make sure that my stories are appealing.
