PRESENTATION ON COMMUNICATION

COMMUNICATION
Communication is a two-way process, in which the information is imparted by a sender to receive via some medium,the receiver then decodes it and gives the sender feedbacks.

Channel of communication
There are three types of communication:
Vertical

Lateral
Diagonal

Vertical communication
In this form, we have upward and downward forms of communication.transmission of message from management to the employee it refers to downward, and when the reverse occurs it is termed as upward communication.

Lateral communication
This form of communication is found among member working at the same level, I.e the peer group. Mostly,it is effective as colleagues are not hampered in their communication process by the chain of commandtechnique.

Horizontal/lateral communication

Diagonal communication
In large organization, various tasks are require support across functions. Completion of projects depends on the goodwill and cooperation of member across functions.

ORAL COMMUNICATION
Oral means stemming from the mouth. Message in the form of spoken words are referred to as oral communication.eg. Shut the door Please shut the door Could you please shut the door

WRITTEN COMMUNICATON
Written communication refers to the words that are written and structured in the form of a message.like- letters, memos, reports, emails etc.

BODY LANGUAGE
Body language refers to the transmittal of message through signals emitted by the body. For exampleA handshake Eye-contact

SPACE AND DISTANCE


The space and distance you maintain with the receiver or sender communicates the nature of relationship between both .If the relationship is intimate, you stand or sit close to the person and as the relationship keeps getting formal.

VOICE MODULATION
Voice modulation and infections in the tone refers to the change in voice and speech pattern. Variations in voice modulations cam communicate much about the feelings and attitude of the sender.

OBJECT LANGUAGE
Object language refers to the message communicated by the object or the things that you carry on the self. For example- a respectable dress code.

PICTURES/SYMBOLS/SIGNS
Pictures, symbols and signs used and not used communicate a message. If you decide to use pictures or symbols while presenting, ensure that they add to the content and do not distract the receiver by their complexity.
