Specials
Monday: Library and Phys. Ed. Tuesday: Phys. Ed. And computer Wednesday: Music and Phys. Ed/ library research* Thursday: Music and computer Friday: Phys. Ed. And art We also have Mrs. Bonanno and Mrs. Leshmet pushing in throughout the year for mental and physical health issues.

Supplies
Accordion Folder 2 binder with colored tab dividers a plastic/vinyl take home folder #2 Ticonderoga or Dixon yellow pencils 2 packages of wide ruled loose leaf paper 1 marble notebook 4 dry erase markers and 2 highlighters old sock Elmers white glue and a glue stick Scissors a box of 24 crayons,colored pencils, and markers Hand held eraser *flash cards (+,-,x, to practice at home)
please monitor your childs supplies throughout the year and replace consumable materials as necessary

Homework Requirements

Written assignments which may include penmanship, math skills, spelling & language, or content area tasks.

September- January: addition and subtraction through 18 January-March: multiplication ( review addition and subtraction) March-June: multiplication and division (review addition and subtraction)

The following heading should be used on all homework papers and handouts. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILDS PAPERS UNTIL HE/SHE GETS USED TO THIS!

TESTING DATES!

The following dates are important testing dates. Please avoid scheduling doctor/dentist/ortho appointments on these dates.
Cognitive Abilities tests-September 16,19, and 20 NYS ELA assessments (reading, writing, listening)-April 17 and 18* NYS math assessments April 23 and 24 IOWA- TBA

In addition, weekly spelling tests are given on Friday mornings. All other tests and quizzes will be announced a week in advance, so look in the planner often! Thank you for your cooperation. *Tuesday after spring break

The emphasis is on geography, culture, economics, government and social issues/current events (i.e. deforestation, natural resource depletion, etc.). Some history of each world community is also covered.
