My credentials, background, etc.

Grew up in San Jose! =) Went to Willow Glen High B.A. in Chemistry from UC Davis M.A. in Education from Stanford 19 years of teaching experience Taught all levels of Chemistry Been teaching AP Chem for 11 years

Weighted grades:

Homework: 5% Tests/Quizzes: 50%

Labs/Projects: 20% Midterms: 25%

Extra credit:

Very little students should not expect to raise their grade with extra credit No individual extra credit offered

Each night, review in the book what we covered in class Do unassigned problems Ask questions!!!! Understand the concepts behind the math dont just memorize equations Form study groups, Facebook chat groups Use prep books

What if my child took Regular Chem instead of Honors?

Student needs: to be an independent & selfmotivated learner to ask for help when needed be able & willing to work hard the time to spend on AP Chem

Weekly or bi-monthly quizzes Midterms each quarter AP practice exams in April/May Not returned to students Reviewed in class or during tutorial Available for review before midterms

Test/Quizzes Return policy:

Test Corrections

Most tests will have corrections Maximum of two corrections per semester Get point back for every point missed Can only correct the multiple choice portion. No corrections on midterms Corrections done during tutorial (multiple days offered)

Homework

Most HW is not collected

Some HW and most labs are collected


Stamped for completion Cannot be turned in late.
