• Mother bats usually have only one
offspring per year.
• A baby bat is usually left in the
roost, a newborn bat can soon grow
too large for this.
• Bats form with many females giving
birth in the same area : cave, a tree
hole, or a cavity in a building.

Vampire bats are the most famous type of bats.

Vampire bats are kind and giving creatures.

The females often share other animals' blood with each other

they help feed mothers when they have just given birth

They come out at night and drink blood.


They drink other animals' blood, using two sharp teeth.

They bite the animal then lick the blood.

The animals are often sleeping when this happens.
