Symmetrical Catproducts in catiaV5

This describes how to create/handle symmetrical catproducts in Catia V5 For this we have 2 possibilities I. Symmetry by creating symmetry catparts of non symmetrical parts, creating a new catproduct and its according catdrawing and excel partlist describing this catproduct II. Symmetry through mathematical manipulation of transormation matrix (symmetry Y=0-icon in vedoc integration toolbar) : Create a separate catproduct that contains the symmetry of the lefthanded catproduct. Purpose : At any time the link between LH product and symmetrical RH product can be found

II. Symmetry through mathematical manipulation of transformation matrix (symmetry Y=0-icon in vedoc integration toolbar)
1. Create the catproduct of the left handed assembly with the according drawing and partlist

2. Add reference block to symmetrical assembly on the drawing

3. Create a new catproduct for the right handed assembly Insert the left handed assembly and mirror the left handed assembly with the vedoc toolbar symmetry Y=0 icon Filename of symmetrical catproduct should refer to the document nr of the left handed catproduct 4. Create a drawing according to the right handed catproduct - Filename of catdrawing should refer to the document nr of the left handed product - Name in drawing header should refer to the document nr of the left handed part - Drawing contains 1 iso view of the right handed catpart 5. 2. Add reference block to symmetrical assembly on the drawing

Document number in template is document id of catproduct/drawing symmetrical (Righthanded) catproduct

3. a) Create a new catproduct for the right handed assembly; description has to contain symm of xxxx with xxx id of lefthanded assembly

b) Insert the left handed assembly

c) Mirror the left handed assembly with the vedoc toolbar symmetry Y=0 icon Result

4. Create a blanc drawing for the right handed catproduct

- Filename catdrawing should refer to the document nr of the left handed part - Example : 31786678-01-001-Symm of 31786638.CATDrawing - Name in drawing header should refer to the document nr of the left handed part
