"A physician once told me that nothing arouses so much bitter enmity and heated arguments among his colleagues, as the subject of cancer. This may be due to the guilty recollections of cancer victims expiring who might have been saved; or of the memories of patients pronounced hopelessly ill who recovered under the treatment of a 'quack,' or who miraculously lived without further treatment. Possibly these guilt reactions and the remorse over exhausting the money of patients and their relatives in futile cancer treatments, account for some of these psychological manifestations which are expressed in hostility and attack."

"The universities do not teach all things ... so a doctor must seek out old wives, gypsies, sorcerers, wandering tribes, old robbers, and such outlaws and take lessons from them. A doctor must be a traveller. Knowledge is experience." Paracelsus (1493-1541)

Antioxidant supplementation and risk of incident melanomas: results of a large prospective cohort study. Asgari MM
OBJECTIVE: To examine whether antioxidant supplement use is associated with melanoma risk in light of recently published data from the Supplementation in Vitamins and Mineral Antioxidants (SUVIMAX) study, which reported a 4-fold higher melanoma risk in women randomized to receive a supplement with nutritionally appropriate doses of antioxidants.

Conclusion: Antioxidants taken in nutritional doses do not seem to increase melanoma risk.

Non-sunscreen photoprotection: antioxidants add value to a sunscreen. Matsui MS, et al

Non-sunscreen protective strategies have been developed. These include topically applied botanical extracts and other antioxidants as well as topical DNA repair enzymes. Standard terms of photoprotection such as sun protection factor (SPF) do not accurately reflect the photoprotection benefits of these materials. J Investig Dermatol Symp Proc. 2009 Aug;14(1):56-9.

Tea extract containing polyphenols via ability to reduce oxidative stress and inhibit NF-kB. Botanical antioxidants and vitamins C and E to a broadspectrum sunscreen may further decrease UV-induced damage compared with sunscreen alone. Conclusion: Non-sunscreen materials such as botanical extracts, antioxidants, and DNA repair enzymes can contribute value when applied topically to human skin in vivo. J Investig Dermatol Symp Proc. 2009 Aug;14(1):56-9.

Oxygen breathing may be a cheaper and safer alternative to exogenous erythropoietin (EPO)
Recently discovered normobaric oxygen paradox demonstrates that renal tissue can be stimulated to increase EPO production via a simple pattern of oxygen breathing at normal atmospheric pressures. This leads directly to the hypothesis that oxygen breathing may provide chemotherapy patients with a convenient and inexpensive alternative to ESAs. Stimulating endogenous EPO production eliminates the small risk of immune system reaction associated with ESAs. Further, the endogenous physiological EPO doses provided by this method may be safer, in terms of cancer mortality, than the exogenous pharmacological doses inherent in ESA administration. Author: R. Protective effect of pomegranate-derived products on UVB-mediated damage in human reconstituted skin.

Afaq F, et al
Solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation, particularly its UVB (290-320 nm) component, is the primary cause of many adverse biological effects including photoageing and skin cancer. UVB radiation causes DNA damage, protein oxidation and induces matrix metalloproteinases

Pomegranate, from the tree Punica granatum, contains anthocyanins and hydrolysable tannins and possesses strong antioxidant and anti-tumorpromoting properties. Conclusion: pomegranate-derived products may be useful against UVB-induced damage to human skin.

Chemoprevention of human actinic keratoses by topical DL-alpha-tocopherol. Foote JA et al Prior research shows that topical application of free, nonfatty acid-conjugated vitamin E (DL-alphatocopherol) prevents skin cancer in mice, as well as immunosuppression induced by UVB radiation. This study investigated the chemopreventive potential of DL-alpha-tocopherol in humans through monitoring surrogate end point biomarkers in sundamaged skin.

Conclusion: DL-alpha-tocopherol-induced reductions in polyamine metabolism are consistent with the inhibition of skin squamous cell carcinogenesis as seen in previous human trials and animal models.

A preponderance of evidence from the best observational studies... has led to the conclusion that public health action is needed. Primary prevention of these cancers has been largely neglected, but we now have proof that the incidence of colon, breast and ovarian cancer can be reduced dramatically by increasing the public's intake of vitamin D."
Professor Cedric Garland the University of San Diego, California after reviewing 63 recent studies on vitamin D and cancer.

A daily dose of vitamin D3 could cut the risk of cancers of the breast, colon and ovary by up to a half, a 40-year review of research has found. The evidence for the protective effect of the "sunshine vitamin" is so overwhelming that urgent action must be taken by public health authorities to boost blood levels, say cancer specialists.

Escharotics (caustic compounds) - botanical ingredients - metal salt, often a halogen metal (halide), - potassium iodine -"butter of antimony" (antimony trichloride) Many dermatologists are aware that along with zinc chloride, butter of antimony was one of the ingredients in a number of early escharotics of the 1900's. But its use goes back even to Paracelsus in the 1500's --

Curcumin, the yellow pigment found in the spice turmeric and a key ingredient in yellow curry inhibits melanoma cell growth and stimulates tumor cell death via apoptosis potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cancer terminating effects

CANCER August 15, 2005

Zinc chloride was one of just three ingredients in the initial Mohs surgical paste that is now central to a standard dermatological procedure approved through the West. The three ingredients that Mohs used in his formula and taught were: zinc chloride, bloodroot, and stibnite (antimony sulfide, another Paracelsus favorite)

Standard of Care: Mohs micrographic surgery is the best procedure to preserve skin tissue surrounding the cancer. But it requires special training and equipment, and it is timeconsuming and expensive.

Harry S. Hoxsey's formula was almost identical to Mohs. The difference? Mohs called the topical a "fixative," and he artificially and unnecessarily inserted the act of surgery as a necessary part of the process. Yet the AMA, FDA and other pillars of orthodox medicine exerted enormous effort to put Harry S. Hoxsey out of business

Zinc chloride has no capacity to discriminate healthy from malignant tissues. the healthy tissue is definitely not impervious to this product. "Zinc chloride is made by pouring hydrochloric acid over zinc. It is extremely caustic and may damage skin." www.cancersalves.com/ Ingrid Naimen

CONCLUSION: Melittin inhibits the

proliferation of osterosarcoma cell line through up-regulating Fas expression and inducing apoptsis.

Dear Dr. Weeks, In our studies we successfully destroyed prostate and breast cancer tumors and metastases with membrane disrupting peptides; examples for these are naturally occurring peptides like mellitin.

These peptides destroy the outer cell membrane and cause rapid cell death in vitro and in vivo.

Bee venom has been reported to exhibit antitumour activity in-vitro and in-vivo.

Melittin alone is extremely toxic to cells and induces immediate cell lysis, but becomes inactive when coupled with avidin. The incorporation of the MMP2 target sequence into the peptide was used as a means for targeting tumor cells.
