Dr.Debomalya Ghosh Faculty, MIS & Operations Management Department of Business Administration Assam University

What is MIS ?

Timely delivery is the USP for a courier business, which results in customer satisfaction. The Information system can interact with the delivery and pickup processes. Once the material is delivered to the customer, the system updates the data within a few minutes. A customer can track the position of the material through a consignment number.

Example !!!

In an accounting information system, all vouchers, cash books, bank bills, etc. are entered. These data are processed through computer to produce the output such as trial balance, balance sheet, sales register, etc. All vouchers, cash books, bank bills, etc. are the basic input or raw data. The process is developed and changed through a feedback system.

The users of the system play a role in the feedback process. The outcome of the process is regulated through control mechanism.

See this !!!!

A company manufactures industrial machine tools. The company has one head office with four regional offices dealing with the marketing of the product. Orders are booked from regional offices and send to the head office. All purchases are made from head office. The raw materials are delivered to factory. All kinds of payments to suppliers are handled by head office.

Hi..

The system allows us to look at every play, in every way, and tie it back to stats. So we can watch how we played every ball, track our success rate, and see how other teams are doing it.
