Transitional Church

Pastor Mike Hendon

Transition: a:passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another : change b : a movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another

The one thing we can be sure of is CHANGE But we dont like change, we dont do well with change. We put up barriers to change, we resist it. We will go through amazing things to keep from change.

Transition is an adventure into the unknown with all of the risks, known and unknown. Look at Abraham:
Now the LORD had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family And from your fathers house, To a land that I will show you. Gen.12:1

Abraham was a transitional man. God was bringing about a new thing and He needed a man to be the bridge into the future. I believe God has called US to be a transitional church just as Abraham is a transitional man

Here are some important aspects of transition

There are no maps for this journey
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Heb.11:8 It involves letting go of past to reach out for tomorrow. You cant hold on to yesterday and you can only get to the future by looking forward.

Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. Isa.43:18-19

In order to reach for the new, you must let go of the old. It is death by installmentsthe slow death of our mind-sets, our attitudes, perceptions, and paradigms with nothing obvious to take their place.

Sometimes we experience it FIRST then we come to understand AFTERWARDS in retrospect. Therefore, it is important to spend time before the Lord in order to reflect and review. To see where we are and where we have come from

By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Heb.11:9-10

Pioneers never get to enjoy the map cause they are to busy drawing them. Pioneers dont settle even when home Pioneers accept the death process cause they know future fruit comes from present death. Jn.12:24

Death is even another form of change Whenever God allows death it is to free us in order to experience new gifts, new realms, new anointing, and different challenges to love and faith. For those who love God, you cannot fear change, for the unchanging God comes to light in your change.

Moab has been at ease from his youth; He has settled on his dregs, And has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, Nor has he gone into captivity. Therefore his taste remained in him, And his scent has not changed Jer.48:11

Therefore behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, That I shall send him wine-workers Who will tip him over And empty his vessels And break the bottles. Jer.48:12 If you dont die to yourself-God will send someone to kill you!

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.2 Cor.3-17-18

Change is not just endured but enjoyed by His presence. We submit to the process because we know He is in control. We know our inward development is more important than outward circumstances.

If we give Jesus the ground He requires INSIDE than what is on the OUTSIDE will diminish if not disappear. We are excited about change because we are excited about the Lord. As the revelation of Him unfolds, we break out into new areas. If we keep hitting the same landmarks, we are resisting change
