• The Block diagram of 7489 is shown in Fig.1.

• The individual memory cells are shown as

square boxes.

• This RAM contains 16 rows and 4 columns

organized in a 16x4 array.

Dynamic RAM IC’s

• 4164 and 4116 are the important dynamic RAM

IC’s of TMS (Texas Instruments).

• TMS 4116 is a widely used 16Kx1(16,384x1)

dynamic RAM.

• The logic diagram of 4116 is shown in Fig.2(a).

• The pin configuration of 4116 is shown in Fig.2(b)
