INTRODUCTION
Security is prime concern in our day-today

life. Every one wants to be as much as secure as to be possible. Password controlled system forms a vital link in security chain.
The microcontroller based digital lock presented here is an access control system that allows only authorized person to access a restricted area.

The system comprises a small electronic unit with a Cell phone keypad which is fixed out side the entry door to control a solenoidoperated lock.
An authorized person enters predetermined number (password) Via the keypad to operation of a relay so the door can be open.

If the entered password is correct then system will give a message on LCD.

COMPONENT USED
Fully microcontroller based interface using AT89S8253 16 * 2 line LCD module to display status . Relay output- control, device has unique password Two Crystal Oscillator of rating 3.5 & 10 MHz Voltage Regulator 7805 IC.

Relay
A single pole double throw (SPDT) relay 6 bit wide is used. The relay require 12 volt at a current of 50 ma, which can not be provided by microcontroller. So the relay driver NPN transistor is added. Normally the relay remains off. As soon as micro controller output goes high, the relay will operate via NPN transistor.

The relay takes advantage of the fact that when electricity flows through a coil, it becomes an electromagnet. The electromagnetic coil attracts a steel plate, which is attached to a switch So the switchs motion (ON and OFF) is controlled by the current flowing to the coil. The relay operates mechanically, so it cannot operate at high speed.

LCD CIRCUIT

LCD MODULE
A 16 * 2 line LCD module is used to display the status which is send by microcontrolle. LCD is connected on Port-2. Pin-3 of LCD is used to control the contrast by using preset or fixed value resistor.

In this LCD we can show 16 characters in 1st line & 16 characters in 2nd line. Total 32 characters can be displayed including space.

POWER SUPPLY
Two supply voltage required for this project. A dc 12 V mains adaptor is connected to ULN2803 IC via a mains lead. 7805 is voltage regulator IC. It regulates 5V dc for microcontroller & LCD.

AT89S8253 MICROCONTROLLER
The AT89s8253 is a low power, high performance CMOS It has flash programmable and erasable read only memory(PEROM). 16-bit timer/counters: T0 and T1 32 I/O pins arranged as four 8 bit ports (P0 P3) Full duplex serial data receiver/transmitter: SBUF

Pin Configuration

LM7805(VOLTAGE REGULATOR)
automatically maintain a constant voltage level voltage regulator may include negative feedback control loop. 3 terminal Positive Voltage regulators this is used to make the stable voltage of +5v for MCU . voltage regulators may be installed at a substation or along distribution lines so that all customers receive steady voltage independent of how much power is drawn from the line.

FEATURES
Output Current up to 1A Output Voltages of 5V. Thermal Overload Protection Short Circuit Protection Output Transistor Safe Operating Area Protection

DUAL TONE MULTI FREQUENCY

Dual-tone multi frequency (DTMF), also known as Touch Tone. It is used for telephone signaling over the line in the voice frequency band to the call switching center. dialing signals to dial long-distance numbers Encoder/decoders were added at the end offices that would convert the standard pulse signals into DTMF tones. At the remote site another encoder/decoder would decode the tones and perform pulse dialing. This idea of using the existing network for signaling as well as the message is known as in-band signaling.

ADVANTAGES
The microcontroller digital lock presented here is an access control system that allows only authorized person to access a restricted area. Low power consumption.

It does not require heavy hardware so it is easy to implement.

APPLICATION
It can be used for security purpose.
RESEDENTIAL. WORKSHOPS. OFFICES. OTHER COMMERCIAL PURPOSE.

CONCLUSION
Hence from the following presentation we can say that this is very effective in the field of security. It is user efficient device or can be easily operated.
