VENUES
The XIX Commonwealth Games being hosted by India at Delhi, will be held across six venue . clusters and six stand alone venues. In all, there are ten competition venues and forty-two training venues, sixteen existing and twenty-six new venues. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which will also be host to athletics, lawn bowl and weight lifting. The stadium, originally constructed for the Asian Games in 1982 and named after India's first Prime Minister, will boast a seating capacity of 75,000 spectators post renovation for the games. 5/2/12

Cluster 2 : The Indira Gandhi Sports Complex: The complex, a mere six kilometers from the Games Village, will host cycling, gymnastics & wrestling events. Cluster 3 : Yamuna Sports Complex: The Yamuna Sports Complex will host table tennis & the qualifying rounds of archery Cluster 4 : Siri Fort Sports Complex: The Siri Fort Complex will be host to badminton & squash. The athletes and team officials of the participating nations will be accommodated at the Games Village, which is being developed along the east bank of the river Yamuna by the Delhi Development Authority. The Village is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide unmatched comfort and hospitality standards to the participating teams. Developed at a cost of USD 230.7 million, the Village is spread over a 158-acre area. It contains 14 blocks, 34 towers & 1,168 air-conditioned flats that can comfortably house eight thousand athletes & team officials. In addition to the housing, it will also contain training areas for athletics, swimming, weight lifting, wrestling & a fitness centre. Located close to all competition and training venues, the Village is surrounded by dense green natural cover, providing a relaxing environment for the athletes & officials.
