Sore Throat Awareness Campaign.


Executive summery: Sore Throat is an important public health problem in Egypt, The IFMSA Egypt SCOPH Sore Throat Awareness Campaign aims to raise awareness on Sore Throat and establish a national strategy among the medical students to respond to the return of the disease and to motivate them to address public and patients increasing their awareness on Sore Throat .

Mission
Our mission is to provide people with a chance to be fully aware of Sore Throat as a dangerous widespread disease.

Goals
Briefly 1- To aware public about sore throat and its subseqent Dangerous effects if not treated well 2- To hold seminars in collages to aware university students 3- To aware children in schools 4-to differentiate between sore throat and tonsillitis etc

Methodology
1St Phase:
Gathering Data about Sore Throat : An information sheet was prepared including the following points: Number of registered Sore Throat patients in your department annually How do they get treated? Their Commitment to drug therapy? What are the main problems that face physicians while treating a Sore Throat patient? Relation of their place of living to their infection. (Data are to be gathered from hospitals)

Methodology
2nd Phase:
Team & posters preparing Small Working group attended by the Local project coordinators in Menofia to discuss the best approach in order to plan for more effective events to increase the expected outcomes &improve the efficacy of our campaign. Team building & Training of trainers to be held locally in each LC: a) A team of at least 10 Scophians from each LC will be built. The team will get trainings on the basic information about Sore Throat and its epidemiology in Egypt.

Methodology
The training will cover the basic knowledge about Sore Throat (cause, mode of transmission, prevention and lines of treatment, methods of screening) In addition to this, communication skills training will be given to teach them how to deliver a health educational message to a non-medical recipient. Materials preparations Two posters of different designs will be prepared: The first poster will include: symptoms & modes of transmission. The second poster will include: contact screening & compliance to treatment. The posters will contain pictures that will be simple, comic, self-illustrated & expressive with little illustrative talk in between in Arabic. Brochures in Arabic about sore throat cause, mode of transmission, prevention and lines of treatment, methods of screening Big banners also simple and deliver the message

Methodology
3rd phase:
Carrying out our campaigns: 1- University and Public places Visiting the University and Public places to increase their awareness of the importance of strategy, and encourage them to take right medication Educating the family of the patient on how to deal with him, how to avoid getting infected by Sore Throat , how and when should they seek medical advice. Hanging posters. 2- Preparatory schools & factories Explaining the disease, its modes of transmission, ways of prevention, importance of screening

Fund Rising
-Contact drugs companies and tell them about project And see the interested ones -Put a budget for local project And a budget for national Project -The budget will include flyers ,banners ,posters, pens for 12LCs

Outcome
We do expect that by the end of the project, not only will the targeted groups have the enough knowledge and the right awareness about Sore Throat , but also we would have established a national strategy among medical students to take an action towards Sore Throat and also we would have created a team of motivated enthusiastic peer educators who are ready to be a part of a continuous national project fighting against Sore Throat
