THE IMAGE
The key image used on the poster of The Giants shows a facade of bliss, a state of equilibrium and contentment, through the use of setting with shows a lot of nature and greenery. THE TEXT
The title presented here as in original French text translates the same way as The Giants. The titles uses a sans font in capital letters, this usually uncommon in poster as the sans serif fonts are only what would be in capitals. This represents the in between that the boys are placed in, the idyllic thought of not being bossed my adults, and the knowing of loneliness without that of parents. The colouring of the typography in white signifying the purity and vulnerability of the young boys and this is furthered in the graphics of the text, that shows a distorted texture to it, highlights again that whilst they are giants in this dream world of theirs, they are cracks also behind this faade in
THE NARRATIVE
In presenting the narrative of the film through
the poster, the clues to this are of the characters shown in the image, three young boys. Two of them are positioned higher than another, suggesting that possibly the theme of age is an issue within the film. The term giants that can refer to them as powerful or to adults, with the use of the text above them could connote adults always being in a state of dominance above these boys. The expression used seem show a longing as they appear to be on a journey in search for something or nothing and this is through the use of the boat as a prop.
THE COLOUR
Both green and blue connotes nature, calm and fresh senses. This is very much apparent within the image. The use of grey connotes loss and this is shown through their mother leaving them in the film.

The layout of the poster is portrait in shape, which allows for the specific signified use of the image. The position of the text above the boys, in the sky in large, capitalized text, connotes a sense of an unreachable dream or desire to be these successful giants, able and independent beings. It could also connote giants being adults that whilst they are not there as parents, adults still have dominance over them as children.
