RECOVERY METHODS & EOR

Primary Recovery In Primary Recovery, oil is forced out by pressure generated from gas present in the oil. Natural mechanisms . WHAT IS ASP FLOODING?

The ASP combination flooding is defined as a combination flooding system of alkali, surfactant and polymer. ASP process is among the chemical methods. It is considered to be most promising methods in recent years because it is able to achieve interfacial tension reduction, wettabilty alteration, and mobility control

effectively with the combination of alkali, 5/4/12 surfactant and polymer.

ADVANTAGES OF ASP

ASP is considered as the most promising chemical method in the recent years because it integrates the advantage of alkali, surfactant and polymer. ASP process could extend field life and increase oil recovery dramatically. As alkali is inexpensive, this helps to reduce the cost of ASP flood. Common alkaline agents used include sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate.

The combination of three chemicals are synergistic. Together they are more effective than as component alone. Among water, alkaline, surfactant polymer 5/4/12

Problems

Chemical EOR is a very complex technology requiring a high level of expertise and experience to successfully implement. Mechanism of ASP is not fully are not still fully understand. Chemical EOR technologies typically require large quantities of chemical products such as surfactants and 5/4/12 polymers, which must be transported

TECHNICAL CHALLENGE & CONCLUSION

Technical challenge is how to significantly reduce the amount and cost of chemicals used such that ASP floods can become cost effective as well. Field study shows that concentration of alkali, surfactant and polymer remain relatively high in the produced fluids of ASP floods. Thus successfully reuse of these chemicals can substantially reduce the capital cost and environmental impact. As research and technology progress, the potential and feasibilty of ASP flooding continues to grow and offers much potential for increased oil recovery. 5/4/12
