The architecture of the present time. Contemporary are designed for today's lifestyles with huge windows and large, open spaces by modern materials such as glass, iron and concrete. Modern Architecture became linked to a certain genre of building and thus over time wasn't really 'modern' anymore. Thus Modernism is differ because it suggests a certain style, not simply a 'contemporary' or 'current' construction. Contemporary architecture is also applied to a range of styles of recently built structures and space which are optimized for current use.

Contemporary Architects attempt to push at the boundaries of materials and technology, and, especially in recent decades, geometry.
Almost every contemporary architect has been influenced by the Modern Movement. Le Corbusier was for many the principal influence with his modern architecture of white walls, fenetre longuer, pilotis and architectural promenade.

Contemporary Architecture is not simply antivernacular but also architecture that can have a number of influences but still tries to be inspirational, visionary, risky and uses new materials in an innovative way.
