I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.

Today 56,000,000,000+ killed each year

The things that will destroy us are: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice. Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi

ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY

Awareness is bad for the meat business. Conscience is bad for the meat business. Sensitivity to life is bad for the meat business. DENIAL, however, the meat business finds indispensable." John Robbins, Diet for a New America

ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE..

"If Americans abandoned their toxic diets and learned a truly healthy approach to eating, we could largely limit . . . strokes, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, and adult-onset diabetes. Meanwhile we would see a marked reduction in cancers of the breast, prostate, colon, rectum, uterus, and ovaries. Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn - HEART ATTACK PROOF CNN "Usually, the first thing a country does in the course of economic development is to introduce a lot of livestock. Our data are showing that this is not a very smart move and the Chinese are listening. They are realizing that animal-based agriculture is not the way to go.... We are basically a vegetarian species and should be eating a wide variety of plant food and minimizing our intake of animal foods.... "Once people start introducing animal products into their diet, that's when the mischief starts. T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., of Cornell University

"We know that it is possible to lose weight effectively and permanently,

reduce or eliminate medications, reverse heart disease, and even improve the symptoms of neuropathy," he says. "If you thought you had to surrender to advancing symptoms, think again. You are now in the driver's seat. Dr. Neal Barnard

"I don't understand why asking people to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open and put them on cholesterol-lowering drugs for the rest of their lives. Dean Ornish, MD

PIGS
Professor Donald Broom of Cambridge University Veterinary School in the UK has stated that pigs have the cognitive ability to be quite sophisticated. Even more so than dogs and certainly three year olds. Professor Stanley Curtis of Penn State University there is much more going on in terms of thinking and observing by pigs than we would ever have guessed. Co-researcher Dr. Sarah Boysen concluded that pigs are able to focus with a greater intensity than a chimp. -More than 20 verbal ques have been discovered so far including the vocalization for Im hungry as well as a call to attract a mate. Pigs often form elaborate extended family units and learn from one another, this represents a sort of culture that is passed on. Pigs are also clean, loyal and affectionate animals that have good memories and learn from trial and error.

Cows

Professor Christine Nicol at BristolUniversity in the United Kingdom showed that cows have a strong, complex emotional life, feeling pain, fear and anxiety and also worrying about the future Professor John Webster, also of Bristol University, has documented how cows form friendships with one another.

Chickens

Many studies have been conducted on chickens and other birds, and on this topic professor of neuroscience and animal behavior at the University of New England Dr. Lesley Rogers states, It is clear now that birds have cognitive capacities equivalent to those of mammals, even primates. Dr. Joy Mench a professor at the University of Californias Department of Animal Sciences has shown that chickens understand cause-and-effect relationships.

Fish

Dr. Donald Broom Professor of Animal Welfare and advisor to the British government has said The scientific literature is quite clear. Anatomically, physiologically and biologically, the pain system in fish is virtually the same as in birds and mammals. Dr. Andrew Rowan adjunct professor at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, the fishs brain also has receptors for the drug valium which is used for reducing anxiety in humans, thus it can be concluded that fish also experience anxiety and stress. According to research conducted By Dr. Culum Brown at Macquarie University, fish have the cognitive abilities greater than or equal to primates and elephants, not only can they recognize individuals but they can also use tools, learn and teach as well as form complex and intricate social relationships. Research has also shown that fish can anticipate future adverse events and can even be trained to tell time. Studies at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh showed that fish may rock back and forth when they feel physical and mental pain, this is similar to the behavior seen in deeply shocked human or factory farmed animals. Deep sea divers have also witnessed fish that follow the divers and enjoy being petted much like a cat or dog.

Moral Development
Consensus consciousness = Herd Consciousness
