Religious beliefs are an important piece of all cultures of people.

Our religion influences the way we live.

This webquest is designed to enhance sixth grade students


understanding of how the gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt
influence the life and culture of these people.

Essential Questions:
 What is the basic belief system in Egyptian culture?
 What were the roles of the gods and goddesses within Egyptian
culture?
 Why is your god or goddess important to the Egyptians?
 What does your god or goddess represent?

Objectives
Students will:
 read and take notes from library sources
 read and take notes from internet sources
 research and collect data in the form of an outline
 describe their god or goddess in detail
 write fluently using Microsoft Word with little or no error
 make connections between the importance of animals and the
role of gods and goddesses in Egyptian society
illustrate their understanding by the creation of a well designed
project
 show responsibility by meeting project deadline
show their understanding of how religion is important to
Egyptian culture

You are about to embark on a
journey from the Nile River Valley
into the heat of the desert, but you
must hurry. The Ancient Egyptian
gods and goddesses need your help.
People today seem to have
forgotten about them, and they want
you to take on the challenge to
teach others about their importance.
Now it is going to take some hard
work but they trust you to complete
this mission and save them from
vanishing out of history books all
over the world. Now get to work,
the clock is ticking!

Your task in this webquest is to work individually
doing research to answer these questions.

 What were the roles of the gods and goddesses to


the Egyptians?
 Why is your god or goddess important to the
Egyptians?
 What does your god or goddess represent?

It’s now up to you, stop them from vanishing!

Step 1: Assign a god or goddess

Did you know that there were over 100 different gods
or goddesses in Ancient Egypt?

Some gods and goddesses are at a greater risk of


vanishing so I have assigned for you a specific god or
goddess to be researching.

Once you have received your research packet and


assigned god or goddess from me, you may begin
researching!
 Step 2: Research
Now that you know your role in stopping the gods and
goddesses from vanishing, it is your job to find out
everything you can about your assigned god or goddess.

Click on the fact sheet below and find out what you need
to discover about your god or goddess.

Each day you will need to complete a different section of


your packet, it is label on the packet for you! Good luck!

Step 3: Choosing a project

Now that you have all of your research, it is time


to create a project to help people remember the
gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt

There are three different projects that you may


choose from.
 A poster with pictures and facts
 Draw a picture and write a short bibliography
 Write a newspaper article with pictures

Descriptions for each project are on the following


pages

Poster Presentation

Use the facts and pictures of your god or


goddess to create a poster board

You must include:


 5 pictures

 5 facts from every section of your

research packet
 The name and role of your god or

goddess

 Biography and Picture

Write a biography about your god or goddess and then


either draw a picture or make a collage

Paper:
 12 pt font, Times New Roman, at least 1 page

 Include 3 facts from each section of your research

packet
 The name and role of your god or goddess

Picture:
 Draw your own picture of your god or goddess

 Create a collage using 6 or more pictures


Step 5: Create Project

Newspaper Article

Write a newspaper article discussing something


good or bad that your god or goddess has done.

Your article needs to include:


 3 facts from every section into your article

 Pictures to go along with your article

 12 pt font, Times New Roman, at least 1 page
