Ayurved
The term Ayurved means the science by which life is understood in its totality. The word is composed of two parts
Ayush This means a combination of body, sense organs, mind and soul.
Ayurveda
This system of medicine is popular for emphasis on preventive care along with the treatment of the disease conditions, as is indicated in the Sanskrit verse from ancient texts -
Ayurved has been in existence since time immemorial. According to authentic Ayurvedic texts, Brahma had composed Ayurved even before creating the universe. Brahma taught it to Daksha Prajapati who in turn passed it on. The descent is as below -

Shalakya Tantra
This is derived from the word Shalaka which means a blunt rod like instrument. It deals with ailments of the Urdhvajatrugat region i.e. region Urdhvajatrugat above the clavicle.
Kaumara Bhritya
This branch deals with the diseases of children, and diseases affecting the milk of wet nurses and their treatment.
Agada Tantra
This deals with the Sign and symptoms and management of poisoning due to bites of snakes, insects, rodents etc. and other poisons.
Rasayana
This deals with the methods to Maintain youth, to increase life span, Intellect and strength.
Vajikarana
This deals with increasing the reproductive capacity of males.
Bhoot vidya
Bhoot vidya deals with the management of psychic disorders in hman beings produced as a result of invasion by Deva, Asur, Gandharv, Deva, Asur, Gandharv, Yaksha etc.
