Style of Architecture
He created an influential 20th century architectural style, stated with extreme clarity and simplicity. He made use of modern materials such as industrial steel and plate glass to define interior spaces. He strived towards an architecture with a minimal framework of structural order balanced against the implied freedom of free-flowing open space. He called his buildings "skin and bones" architecture. He sought a rational approach that would guide the creative process of architectural design, and is known for his use of the aphorisms "less is more" and "God is in the details".

PAVILION
Refers to as a free-standing structure sited at a short distance from a main residence or attraction Its architecture makes it an object of pleasure and a site for relaxation.

The pavilion was going to be bareno trade exhibitsjust the structure, a single sculpture and purpose-designed furniture (the Barcelona Chair). There was lack of accommodation. The Pavilion was a continuous space; blurring inside and outside. "The

design was predicated on an absolute distinction between structure and enclosurea regular grid of cruciform steel columns interspersed by freely spaced planes"

FEATURES
The structure was more of a hybrid style The floor plan is very simple The entire building rests on a plinth of travertine A southern U-shaped enclosure, also of travertine, helps form a service annex and a large water basin. Another U-shaped wall on the opposite side of the site also forms a smaller water basin. This is where the statue by Georg Kolbe rests. The floor slabs of the pavilion project out and over the poolconnecting inside and out.

The building existed only temporarly.

It was torn down in early 1930, not even a year after it was completed. A group of Spanish architects reconstructed the pavillion permantly between 1983 and 1986, with the help of existing black and white photographs.

Another unique feature of this building is the exotic materials used.

Plates of high-grade stone materials like veneers of Tinos verde antico marble and golden onyx Tinted glass of grey, green and white Translucent glass as spatial dividers.

DESIGN ELEMENTS
Maximum line of sight: clear views between diagonals of the structure Open floor plans:
multiple circular paths

The seamless entrance: sequential building elements create an unbroken entrance Building elements:
Horizontal surfaces Structure systems Non-bearing walls Transparent surfaces

The Roof
The roof plates are relatively small and are supported by chrome-clad and cruciform columns. This gives the impression of a hovering roof. The reflective columns appear to be struggling to hold the "floating" roof plane down, not to be bearing its weight. The thickness of the roof is 0.3 m It rests on a wall 3.1m high.

MOVEMENT
Not straight line through the building, but continuous turnabouts. This was achieved by wall surfaces being displaced against each other and creating a space that became narrower or wider.

All walls are 3.1 m high The window frame (upper and lower parts) are 10cm thick.

3D View with the roof

The roof thickness is 0.3m The reflective pools are 0.3m deep. The base is 1.05m high.

The stairs are 15cm for the riser and 40cm for the thread.
