WHO: By Christ
WHAT: Holy Eucharist WHEN: Holy Thursday, during the Last Supper HOW: Took the bread and wine, thank God, and shared it with His disciples

Bread Symbolizes the body of Jesus Christ Wine Symbolizes the blood of Christ
Jesus used the breaking of the bread as part of a Jewish meat when as master of the table he blessed and distributed the bread, above all at the Last Supper.

It is the way that his disciples will recognize him after his Resurrection.
they signified that all who eat the one broken bread, Christ, enter into communion with him and form but one body in him.

The Eucharist is celebrated amid the assembly of the faithful, and the visible expression of the Church.

It presents the one sacrifice of Christ the Saviour and includes the Church's offering. By holy sacrifice of the Mass, it means "sacrifice of praise," spiritual sacrifice, pure and holy sacrifice; used, since it completes and surpasses all the sacrifices of the Old Covenant.

The Church's whole liturgy finds its center and most intense expression in the celebration of this sacrament; this celebration also called as the SACRED MYSTERIES.

This sacrament unite ourselves to Christ, who makes us shares in his Body and Blood to form a single body. We also call it: the holy things (ta hagia; sancta) The moment we receive the holy Eucharist, we enter into a deeper relationship with God; we let Jesus Christ enter our soul. We are united with Christ.

It accomplishes the mystery of salvation and fulfils the faithfulness to God's will in our daily lives.

The signs of bread and wine become a way of surpassing understanding.

The Body and Blood of Christ continue to signify the goodness of creation.

In the Old Covenant bread and wine were offered as a sign of grateful acknowledgment to the Creator. When Jesus instituted the Eucharist, he gave a new and definitive meaning to the blessing of the bread and the cup.

two great parts that form a fundamental unity: - the gathering, the liturgy of the Word, with readings, homily and general intercessions. - the liturgy of the Eucharist, with the presentation of the bread and wine, the consecratory thanksgiving, and communion.
The liturgy of the Word and liturgy of the Eucharist together form "one single act of worship"; the Eucharistic table set for us is the table both of the Word of God and of the Body of the Lord.

Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body, which will be given up for you.
Take this all of you and drink from it; this is my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

By these words, Jesus wants us to repeat what he did and said during the last supper. He wants us to do this until he comes again.

Each and every Christian is invited to be present in celebrating the Holy Eucharist. We are all called to be part if this assembly.

During the offertory, the bread and wine are brought to the altar as a sign of offering for Christ. This action is similar with what Jesus did during the last supper:

Taking the bread and cup

The part where the priest gives thanks to the Father for everything: creation, redemption, sanctification. The whole Church praises God wholeheartedly.

Thanksgiving and praise to the Father The sacrificial memorial of Christ and his Body The presence of Christ by the power of his word and of his spirit

This sacrament is a blessing for all of us so we must really thank the father for giving us a great gift. Whenever we receive it, we are also expected to give thanks and give praise to God, who is the creator of all.

This sacrament is a reenactment of what happened during the Last Supper therefore, we commemorate the union of Christ and of God with their people. It proclaims the mighty and wondrous works of God to his people.

Jesus is present whenever the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist happens. Not only is he present, but he is also within us the moment we receive him. Through his words, his power is manifested.

We are united with Christ by love. Our sanctifying grace is increased. Our sins are forgiven. We hold on to a promise that someday well be resurrected.

Minister of Consecration Only a recognized minister like the priest could perform the consecration. Minister of Administration Anyone, whether the priest or a layman could perform the act of administering the Eucharist.
