INTRODUCTION
The wireless electricity has been given by a name by researchers, and it is termed as witricity. Wireless energy transfer (WET) is the process where electrical energy is transmitted from a power source to an electrical load, without interconnecting wires. First experiment was done by NICOLA TESLA in 1890 on wireless electricity transmission.

DEMONSTRATION OF INTEL
Intel chief technology officer, JUSTIN RATTNER. He demonstrated a wireless electric power system. First experiment is to lighting up 60 watt bulb without using wires. Most importantly electricity transmitted without harming any thing or any one in between transmitter and receiver JOHN SMITH said human body can not affected by magnetic field, and can affected by electric field. So they send power through magnetic field.

MIT DEMONSTRATION
MIT Researchers transfer electricity between two coils wirelessly in November 2006. They used the principle of coupled resonant objects Principle: if both coils resonate at the same frequency electricity can passed between them. According to this theory, one can even send electricity to multiple devices at once. The theory uses a curved coil of wire as an inductor , A capacitance plate, which can hold a charge, attaches to each end of the coil.

The MIT wireless power project uses a curved coil and capacitive plates.

METHODS OF WIRELESS ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION

There are two main methods of wireless electricity transmission They are

MUTUAL INDUCTION EVANESCENT COUPLING

MUTUAL INDUCTION
It is the production of voltage across a conductor situated in a changing magnetic field. Using this technology charging pads were created, area on which an electronic device simply placed and receive charge. It requires too close to a proximity.

The wireless charging pads based on mutual induction technology.

EVANESCENT COUPILNG
It introduce a concept called resonance . It is similar to mutual induction where in electricity travels along an electro-magnetic wave moves between coils of the same frequency. Main function is if we make both coils resonate at same frequency the electricity can passed between the coils without health dangers.

HOW WIRELESS ELECTRICITY COULD WORKS

A witricity system consists of a Witricity transmitter Receiver Witricity device could be installed in the ceiling that permits the use of electronic appliances without batteries.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Power from mains to antenna, which is made of copper Antenna resonates at a frequency of about 10MHz, producing electromagnetic waves 'Tails' of energy from antenna 'tunnel' up to 2m (6.5ft) Electricity picked up by laptop's antenna, which must also be resonating at 10MHz. Energy used to re-charge device Energy not transferred to laptop re-absorbed by source antenna. People/other Objects not affected as not resonating at 10MHz

ADVANTAGES
The potential of wireless energy transfer for organizations is limitless. Reduction of e-waste by eliminating the need for power cords. With this technology, all desks could be equipped with power-pads, where devices could sit and receive electricity without the use of wires Removes all power lines throughout buildings. With one or two EWC transmitters Companies could power any electronic device from anywhere in the office.

DISADVANTAGES
The main downside would be the possibility of energy theft. an individual in close enough proximity could steal anothers electricity without leaving his home. Efficiency- tests show 40% efficiency to light a 60w light bulb from 7 feet. Health magnetic field around human body all the day could be harmful Distance from the device- if distance increases, it uses more power. Size of device- is directly proportional to power consumption
