Anger management is an ability that students can be taught. The following list is merely a brief catalog of common sense behaviours and strategies that teachers and other adults can use to develop anger management skills in children. 1. CREATE A SAFE EMOTIONAL CLIMATE Teachers should create a classroom with clear , consistent and flexible boundaries, one in which every student is treated fairly and is subject to consistent enforcement of a set of rules known and respected by everyone. 2. MODEL RESPONSIBLE ANGER MANAGEMENT Children emulate behaviours, so be the best teacher of anger management techniques , teachers must model their own anger

CLASSROOM IDEAS FOR TEACHERS

When teachers get angry , they are playing the same game as their students. The studentss responses may actual cause greater disruption in the classroom than the studentss original mischief. In classroom , there are going to be times where you become frustrated with the situation. Its important that you dont loose your temper in front of students and keep your cool. As a teacher it is important to have a level head when dealing with the students. When teachers get angry , they are not behaving like a mature one . This makes it hard to win the power struggle with your students.

Here are some tips to help you be the one in control of yourself:
1. IDENTIFYING ANGER : What makes you angry in the classroom ?Is being treated disrespectfully a trigger for you ? Often identifying triggers helps you to overcome them. CLARIFYING EXPECTATIONS : Say exactly and in detail what you expect from the class. Be open to negotiate more realistic expectaions if the students cannot meet your expectations. BE DIFFERENT : Some students may unfortunately take a malicious pleasure in trying to make you mad. If you can feel indifferent and do not respond to their provocation , they will loose interest and not bother you anymore. SAY NOTHING : If you speak in anger , it will definitely aggravate the situation and quite likely have an effect on learning 8 environment

5. USE REASON : Use your inner voice and reason to distance

yourself from the emotion of anger and smile to diffuse the situations. Smiling can effectively resolve tense situations.

6. FORGIVE AND FORGET : Try to forget and forgive disruptive

students., not for them , but for yourself and class. As forgiveness is the highest and most beautiful form of love. In return you will receive untold peace and happiness.

7. FOCUS ON SOLUTIONS : Brainstorm possible situations and

define the problems as an it rather than you. Adapt a problem solving approach to the underlying reasons for the triggers as well as for your emotional reactions.

8. REMAINING IN CONTROL : While you can totally control te

actions of the disruptive students, you can remain in complete control of yourself and win the battle.

MANAGING THE ACTIVE CLASSROOM

To keep children engaged in learning along diverse pathways , we as teachers, need to manage the learning activities in the classroom. Managing active learning involves many different elements. When we strike a balance among self directed learning , peer mentoring , group work and direct instructions, it makes our jobs easier and it helps children learn along many pathways.

FOLLOWING KEY ITEMS OF ACTIVE LEARNING

PLANNING

a weekly plan scheduling classroom activities. Indicate whether children will be working independently, in groups or as a whole class. In a multigrade classroom, each group may be working on a different activity. 10 10

: Create

PREPARING : Prepare for each classroom activity by reviewing your teaching manual or outlining a lesson plan. GATHERING RESOURCES : Collect or create the resources that

are needed for the activity.

CONNECTING LEARNERS TO ACTIVITIES : Whether the

learning activity is the whole class discussion or projects pursued by groups. You can introduce it by addressing the class in direct instruction. Try to make the information or skills to be learned meaningful to the students.

CONNECTING LEARNERS TO EACH OTHER

Take advantage of the ways children can help each other learn in pairs and groups

11 11

GUIDING AND OBSERVING : When children are working

independently , on activities and projects ( whether in on their own , in pairs or groups) , move throughout the classroom, making yourself available for questions and guding learners in overcoming obstacles. Use this time also for assessment, to determine how well children are focussing and the ways that they are interacting.

FOCUSSING ON EQUITABLE PARTCIPATION

All of these methods and ideas help create opportunities for active learning. Be sure to guide the class toward equal participation by all learners so that girls are not dominated by boys.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY SUGGESTIONS

41 41

Laughter Is the best medicine, you have

heard it said, and there is truth to that. It is very difficult indeed to remain stressed and tense when youre bursting with laughter. Scientifically speaking, laughter is very beneficial as it increases oxygen supply and relaxes muscles in the diaphragm and chest. What happens when you laugh? Your brain produces endorphins which are neurotransmitters of happiness. Laughing is also contagious. If you get a group of friends together and watch funny movies if one starts laughing, soon all the others join in. Laughter can even heal cancer not just stress.
