Science Portfolio

By: Miri 8-C Submitted to : Maam Joy

Introduction
Hello, readers of this portfolio. I am Miri from 8-C. In this portfolio, you will see what Ive done during the science class. In this portfolio, you can see my class works, experiments, tests, and other things that Ive done in the room. The purpose for doing this portfolio, is to show you what Ive learned and the times that I spent in the science class. You can also compare and see how I improved in tests and other class works. You can also see what kinds of experiments we do in the class. I will also try my best to improve more in each tests.

Experiment

This experiment was about the endothermic reaction and the exothermic reaction. We saw a little bit of change in the temperature too.

Experiment

This experiment is the experiment

that I liked the most. Because I saw the process of changing into a different color with my eyes as the foil burned. It was interesting to see the foil becoming rusted.

Experiment

This experiment was also interesting

because it changed colors. The stirring and pouring the materials inside was the work of Thitaree but I also wanted to try. It was cool to see colors changing a lot.

Experiment

This experiment was a bit scary. But

it was also exciting too because the candle was still burning but surrounded by the water and later when the glass is covered, the water came up inside the glass.

Article Periodic Table

The periodic table is a tabular arrangement of a chemical elements. It contains the elements atomic number, atomic mass, chemical symbol. Elements are listed in order of increasing of the atomic number. Atomic number is the amount of nucleus in its proton. The groups or family is the vertical column in the periodic table. There are 1 to 18 groups. A period is the horizontal row in the periodic table. There are element categories in the periodic table which includes, Alkali metal, Alkaline Earth Metal, Lanthanides, Actinides, Transition Metals, Post-transition Metals, Metalloids, Other nonmetals, Halogens, and Noble Gases. Periodic table is important to us and it shows the information of each element. By seeing the periodic table we can know the elements oxidation, valence electron, and see which group is it in.

Article Physical Change

A physical change in a substance doesn't change what the substance is. For example, when we cut papers into smaller papers, it is still a paper. Physical change can be reversed but chemical change cannot be reversed back. Physical change are caused from physical properties. Physical properties include melting point, change of durability, change of strength, its shape, size, color, volume, and density. Examples of physical change includes, heating and cooling, magnetism, crystallisation ,mixtures, solution , and alloys.

Article Chemical Change

In a chemical change where there is a chemical reaction, a new substance is formed and energy is either given off or absorbed. Example, when we burn the papers, we cannot return back to papers. Chemical reactions are not reversible. Some produces heat called exothermic energy. There are some evidence to see that the chemical change had occurred. Change of color, odor, temperature, change of form, formation of gases, precipitate, and decompositions. Chemical properties are used for chemical change. Chemical properties are things that cannot be returned back to its own shape or color, or its property.

Article- Ionic and Covalent Bond

An ionic bond is a type of chemical bond formed through an attraction between two oppositely charged ions. Ionic bonds are formed between a cation, which is usually a metal, and an anion, which is usually a nonmetal. Example of ionic bond is Na + Cl Na+ + Cl NaCl and becomes a sodium chloride. Sodium has 1 oxidation and also Chlorine has 1 oxidation so we cut the 1 out and it becomes a sodium chloride. A covalent bond is a form of chemical bonding that is characterized by the sharing of pairs of electrons between atoms. Covalent bonds are bond that are bonded from nonmetal and nonmetal. Their compound contains prefixes upon their numbers. For example, H20, is Dihydrogen Oxide.
