What is sixth sense technology?

Why it is named as sixth sense technology? It is also called as sixth sense Ted technology. TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design)

Behind Sixth Sense

Pranav Mistry, 28 year old, of Indian origin is the

mastermind behind sixth sense technology.

He is a PhD student at MIT He invented sixth sense/ WUW ( Wear UR World) which

is a wearable gestural user friendly interface

he won the Invention of the Year 2009 - by Popular

Science

Design:
The Sixth Sense prototype is

comprised of a projector, a camera and coloured markers.

Both the projector and the

camera are connected to the mobile computing device in the users pocket.

Working:
Camera: It captures the movement of hands and

objects around us. Projector: It produces an image on any surface. Mobile: It is to communicate with the abstract data base server The device works based on interaction instructions which are given by hand movements

Sixth Sense also lets the user draw

icons or symbols in the air using the movement of the index finger and recognizes those symbols as interaction instructions.
For example, drawing an @

symbol lets the user check his mail.

Applications
Using this technology we can project the Google map on any surface .

We can see it by

zoom in and out using hand gestures.

Applications
Using this technology not

only images we can see live videos in news paper.

Not only video we can

have the information about weather in a dynamic way

Applications

We can project our cell phone

on palm and we can use it.

Applications

By seeing the ticket

itself we can know the flight information.

Applications
We can take a photograph by

making a gesture like setting a frame.

We can see a watch on hand by drawing a circle with finger

Applications
The camera can also understand what objects we are

holding in hand.
If we hold the book then it

will find what book it is and it will give the sound reviews about that book.

ADVANTAGES:
Less weight. It is portable and easy to carry.

The device serves the purpose of computer.

It saves the time spent on searching information. It also supports multi touch and multi user

interaction.

Conclusion:
Sixth sense technology brought much part of our digital

world to physical world

The device sees what we see but it lets out information

that we want to know while viewing the object
