Research is defined as a highly intellectual human activity used in the investigation of nature & matter and deals specially with the manner in which data is collected & analyzed and interpreted.

Fundamental Research.
Also called Pure research, basic research carried out to increase understanding of fundamental principles generates new ideas, principles and theories, which may not be immediately utilize essential for nourishing the expansion of knowledge

Quantitative Research.....

Qualitative Research.
Also called cognitive testing or pilot testing aim to gather an in-depth understanding of human behavior and the reasons that govern such behavior The qualitative method investigates the why and how of decision making, not just what, where, when.
Conceptual Research.....
Conceptual research is that related to some abstract idea(s) or theory. It is generally used by philosophers and thinkers to develop new concepts or to reinterpret existing ones.
Empirical Research.
Also called experimental research is a way of gaining knowledge by means of direct and indirect observation or experience Empirical evidence can be analyzed quantitatively or qualitatively.
