By engaging in PDP you will be reviewing, building and reflecting on your personal and professional development. The process encourages you to take a step back & reflect on what you have achieved in a structured way. It also involves clearly identifying your goals & planning the steps you need to take to accomplish them. Being a student is much more than simply studying for your degree or postgraduate qualification. Aims of PDP
The aims and objectives of personal development plan is to improve ones capacity to understand what and how one is learning, and to review, plan and take responsibility for own learning and career choices. Every individual should be more effective, independent, and confident Self directed learners/professionals improve their general skills for study and career management, and encourage a positive attitude to learning and 11 development throughout life.

Questions to be answered in PDP


The strategies in the personal development plan (like any other strategies ) involves answering the basic questions: - Where am I now? (present evaluation) - Where do I want to be? (short, medium and long term) - How do I get there? (setting objectives, SWOT, identify resources and supports needed, CSF etc)

Skills Audit (SWOT)


This activity is designed to help you evaluate your current strengths, weaknesses in relation to the key skills that you want to develop. Some examples for skills are presentation, writing, leadership and team working skills, and commercial awareness. You are to rate your ICT skills rating your skills on a scale of 1 (low) to 5 (high). You may wish to keep a record of your answers/document you will be required to submit this document as part of the final assessment. 14
