1.0) Objectives
1.1) The student will be able to better understand English in a general context. 1.2) The student will develop English fluency in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing but with an emphasis on speaking.
3.0) Rules
3.1) Inappropriate talking and/or behavior in class can lead to a deduction of 1-5 points per class. 3.2) Attendance is mandatory. 3.3) No eating or drinking in class.
4.0) Grading
4.1) Classroom Participation: 40% 4.2) Midterm: 20% 4.3) Final: 40% 4.4) The midterm and final will be based on the textbook and/or prior classroom discussion.
6.0) Homework
6.1) All homework will be typed and doublespaced. 6.2) Your English name and student number will be typed on the top corner of the paper. 6.3) Failure to use the above format will cause the student to receive a zero for the assignment. 6.4) Failure to do a homework assignment during a semester will lead to an automatic failure of the course.
7.0) Cheating
7.1) A student caught cheating will receive a zero in the course and be referred to the department for further disciplinary action. 7.2) Cheating includes paraphrasing an original source. 7.3) Cheating includes any copying or paraphrasing of an original source for an oral exam.

The story begins as we meet Rebecca Casey, a 28-year-old Boston working woman, who dreams of becoming a singer. We also meet her boyfriend Matt who doesn't think much of her dream. Her 17-year-old brother, Kevin, doesn't think much about the future at all. Rebecca's considers applying for music school and pursuing her career full-time, rather than holding down a factory job and doing her music on the side.
You think that your roommate is average looking. You are also sick of your roommate talking about how beautiful/handsome he/she is all the time and are going to tell him/her the truth.
