Phrase Search
Without quotes
If you enter the Keyword Business Research on Google without quotes, it will find matches for pages where The keywords Business and Research appear anywhere on the page Either together as a phrase or as separate words
With quotes
If you enter the Keyword Business Research on Google with quotes, it will find matches for pages where The keywords Business Research appear together as a phrase
Boolean Search
Default Boolean
Googles default Boolean is AND So, if you put the keywords Business Research in the Google Search Tab It will find matches for pages where both Business and Research are present
OR Modifier
If you want to search for pages which have either Revenue or Sales Put an OR (in capital letters) between the keywords So, in this case, you will use Revenue OR Sales Or, you can also use the modifier |, i.e. Revenue | Sales If you want to search for the sales of a particular company, say Red Bull then Use the search query as Red Bull (Revenue OR Sales)
Explicit Inclusion
As told earlier, Googles Default Boolean is AND But it ignores certain words based on context like a, the, of, year etc. You can force Google to include a certain word in the results by using the + Plus Operator So if you want to search for profit for Red Bull, its better to use the query as Red Bull +profit
Synonyms
~ (tilde) Operator
~ (tilde) operator can be used to search for synonyms Add a ~ sign just before the keyword whose all possible uses or synonyms you want to be included in the search results Lets say, we want to search for the Revenues of Red Bull Then we put the search query as Red Bull ~Revenues It will find matches for pages where the phrase Red Bull is present and either of Revenues, Sales, Income, etc. is present
Number Range
.. (Two Dots) Operator
If you want your results to fall inside a certain number range, then Add .. between the two numbers that define the range Lets say, we want to search for the Revenues of Welch Allyn for any of the years between 2000-2010 Then we put the search query as Welch Allyn ~Revenues +2000..2010 It will find matches for pages where the phrase Welch Allyn is present and the numbers in the range 2000-2010 is absent
Word Wildcards
* (Asterisks) Operator
The wildcard * as the substitute for one full word So if we put our search query as India * Pakistan, then It will find matches for pages where the phrase India and Pakistan or India beats Pakistan,etc. are present If we want to search for two missing words, then use two ** instead
Title Operators
intitle:
intitle: searches for your keywords only inside the title of the web pages So if we put our search query as intitle:india united It will find matches for pages which has either of the two keywords India or United or both in the title of the web pages shown in the search result
allintitle:
allintitle: searches for all your keywords only inside the title of the web pages So if we put our search query as allintitle:india united It will find matches for pages which has both the keywords India and United in the title of the web pages shown in the search result
intitle and allintitle are very useful when searching for documents and pdfs, and can work in association with filetype For exmaple, allintitle:identify new market filetype:pdf
allintext:
allintitle: restricts results to documents containing all term in the text
allinanchor:
Its same as allintext is for intext
inurl:
inurl: will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the URL For example, inurl:annual site:www.redbull.com searches for pages on Red Bull website in which the URL contains the word annual
allinurl:
allinurl: will restrict the results to documents containing all the words mentioned in the search query in the URL
cache:
Cache:dolcera.com will display Googles cached version of Dolcera.com, instead of the current version of the page
Google as a Converter
If you put 1000 INR in USD, then Google will do the currency conversion automatically If you enter your search query as 100 INR + 20 USD + 30 Euro, then it will provide the result in a single currency The same can be used for all related units
