INTRODUCTION OF MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA


Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) was established in 1945 as Mahindra & Mohammed. Later on, after the partition of India, one of the partners Ghulam Mohammad - returned to Pakistan, where he became Finance Minister. As a result, the company was renamed to Mahindra & Mahindra in 1948. M&M started its operation as a manufacturer of general-purpose utility vehicles. It assembled jeeps in 1949. Apart from agricultural tractors and LCVs, Mahindra & Mahindra also showed its dexterity in manufacturing army vehicles. Over the passing years, the company expanded its business and started manufacturing light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors.

Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd. (MNAL), the commercial vehicle joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) and Navistar Inc. of USA, unveiled its 25 tonne and 31 tonne trucks for the Indian market. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd announced the launch of the Maxximo, the worlds first mini-truck to be powered by a 2-cylinder CRDe engine with DOHC technology and 4 valves per cylinder.

As a result, the Mini-Xylo will almost definitely lose the third row of seats. Elements like the dashboard and interior trim are likely to be carried over from the standard Xylo. With an engine cap of 1.5 litres for diesel small cars, The Mini-Xylo will use a three-cylinder version of the larger Xylos 2.5-litre engine. Bore and stroke will also be reduced to keep displacement under 1500cc. Four-wheel drive will be an option too on the Mini-Xylo. Priced between Rs 4-5 lakh. Expected IN 2012

Mahindra will follow up the Korando with another SUV from the Ssangyong stable The Rexton II. Briefly put, the SUV is based on the first-generation Mercedes-Benz M- class and can seat seven passengers. Power is courtesy a 161bhp, 2.7-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. An old-school body-on-frame chassis means it wont be the most exciting car to drive but permanent all-wheel drive and a high ground clearance should give it good off-road capabilities. M&M will assemble the Rexton at its Chakan plant and is likely to price the big SUV close to rivals like the Toyota Fortuner. A three-door, four-seater family Car, The car will be sold in two versions the NXR City and the NXR. The cheaper NXR City that comes with a lead acid battery has a range of 80km per charge while its 80kph top speed should help it keep up with traffic. More powerful lithium ion batteries, a range of 160km per charge and a claimed top speed of 104kph makes the NXR the more practical of the two. GROWTH RATE
The Gross Revenues and Other Income of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. for the quarter ended 30th June 2011 is Rs.7294.3 crore as against Rs.5663.5 crore during the corresponding period last year a growth of 28.8%. The net Profit before tax for the current quarter is Rs.814.3 crore as against Rs.721.1 crore in Q1 last year a growth of 12.9%. Healthy volume growth, coupled with a better pricing strategy during the financial year 2010-11, helped Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported a growth of 28% in its stand alone net profit to R2,662.10 crore for the year ended March 31 against R2,087.75 crore for the previous year.
