Introduction
A social skill is any skill facilitating interaction and communication. We use these skills to communicate with each other, both verbally and non-verbally, through gestures, body language and image. Social skills are more than manners. They are the basic attitudes and tools needed for getting along with other people. They include: Showing interest in others Giving and receiving Asserting our needs and rights in appropriate ways Showing consideration and sympathy Communicating effectively We are not born with these skills. Learning how to get along with others is a process that begins at birth and continues throughout life
How do you know you need to improve social skills? Consider yourself a shy person. Wish that you had more friends but don't know how to go about making them. Often feel uncomfortable with other people. Find it hard to know what to say sometimes. Think of yourself as a 'loner'. Sometimes feel like there's nobody to turn to when you need support.

Conclusion
