Introduction
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
o
SCADA systems are used to monitor and control a plant or equipment in industries
o o
These systems encompass the transfer of data between a SCADA central host computer and a number of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
o o A SCADA system
gathers information , transfers the information back to a central site, and display the information in a logical and organized fashion

Master Unit: A central host computer server or servers (sometimes called a SCADA Center, master station, or Master Terminal Unit (MTU).
Software (SCADA HMI Software): A collection of standard and/or custom software [sometimes called Human Machine Interface (HMI) software or Man Machine Interface (MMI) software] systems used to provide the SCADA central host and operator terminal application, support the communications system, and monitor and control remotely located field data interface devices

Objectives
Remote sites data monitoring. Monitoring of voltages, currents, power and frequency of power distributed system. Transfer of data using GSM communication. Collect & manage data of the remote areas. Send SMS to a monitoring center. Establishing a Human Machine Interface to monitor the data in a well mannered fashion.

Methodology
o Electrical parameters (Voltages, currents and frequency) will be
measured at remote site.
o GSM module will receive data from RTUs and will send SMS packets to
control room.
o In control room GSM module will receive SMS packets & will place it in
SCADA (HMI software in PC).

Methodology
At Remote Sites:
o Voltages. Current and frequency of line is measured.
o Data will be encoded to ASCII. o Data will be transferred to control room.

Methodology
In control Room:
o o o
Data will be received. Data will be decoded. Data will be placed in SCADA .
