Safety

- Involves protecting employees from injuries caused by work-related accidents. Health - Refers to employees' freedom from illness and their general physical and mental well being.

Employees who work in safe environment and enjoy good health are more likely to be productive and yield long-term benefits to organization.

Hazard Prevention Program: develop a program plan and establish a methodology to identify and assess hazards; execute risk assessments; research and implement preventive measures; provide employee education; and, evaluate and monitor Hazard Prevention Program. Influenza Prevention Program: in collaboration with external provider, coordinate the delivery of influenza vaccines at all institutes.

Automated External Defibrillator Program: coordinate deployment of external defibrillators; coordinate and deliver user and instructor training; and, ensure compliance to provincial medical director guidelines, where applicable.

Ergonomics Program: conduct ergonomic assessments in the workplace; deliver training in ergonomics awareness; recommend measures to promote ergonomic health and, coordinate with Health Organizations in assessing complex cases.

Respiratory Protection Program: identify and enroll personnel into the program, where appropriate; coordinate training and respirator fit testing; monitor the inspection and maintenance of all industrial units; monitor external contract company to ensure maintenance and repair of industrial units is performed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions; review the respiratory protection program annually to assess the effectiveness of all its elements and update program, as required.
