PERSTALITIC SELFINFLATING TYRE SYSTEM

A System of auto-inflate tires of automobiles

INTRODUCTION
Generally, in automobiles we observe loss of air from the tyres Many users feel that this is the most common phenomenon and they are not much concerned about this. Actually, this a very important factor which effects the vehicle mileage. Even the life of the tyres are based on the amount of air present in the tyres. So, we are here to present a model which auto-inflates the tyres without irritating the vehicle user.

WHY SHOULD BE THE TYRE PROPERLY INFLATED?

If a tyre is not properly inflated it causes many problems. The mileage of the vehicle decreases by a considerable amount. The life time of the tyres gets reduced. The load on the ENGINE increases resulting in high fuel consumption. Smooth driving of the vehicle becomes difficult. The rate of emission of burnt gases like CO2,CO etc., increases.

WHAT IS MEANT BY PERISTALSIS?

The rippling motion of muscles in the intestine or other tubular organs characterized by the alternate contraction and relaxation of the muscle that propel and moves the contents onwards is called peristalsis. By making use of this peristalsis principle a peristaltic pump works.

PERISTALTIC PUMP?

A peristaltic pump is a type of positive displacement pump used for pumping a variety of fluids. The fluid is contained within a flexible tube fitted inside a circular pump casing. A rotor with a number of cams attached to its external circumference compresses the flexible tube. As the rotor turns the part of tube under compression closes thus forcing the fluid to be pumped to move through the tube. This is used in many biological systems.

CONSTRUCTION

The tyre looks as usual.

Inside it a peristaltic tube is present.

TYRE ROLLER DISC

This system is provided with a disc with two rollers on the outer diameter.

TUBE

The rollers and the tyre rotates with respect to each other.

WORKING

The atmospheric air is taken in to the peristaltic part by the rotating rollers connected to the disc. Here the inner disc is fixed and tyre along with peristaltic tube rolls over the rotor part. The rollers compress the air inside the thin tube of the peristaltic part and pushes the air through the outlet valve that is connected to the tube of tyre. When the tyres reached its optimum pressure the inlet valve comes into act and seizes. Thus a constant pressure is maintained inside the tyre.

In case of deformation,

When a deformation(puncture due to nails , screw , etc.,) occurs in the tyre there will be a loss of tyre pressure.
This system restore pressure in quick time with out loss of pressure in tyre. The pressure restoration time depends on the size of the deformation , amount of pressure loss and the volume of the reservoir and the peristaltic part.

ADVANTAGES

The mileage of the vehicle increases. The life span of tyres is increased. The load on the engine gets reduced thus reduces consumption of fuel. The emission of exhaust gases gets reduced. It reduces maintenance cost of tyres. Even tyre gets punctured it make tyre to work.

DISADVANTAGES

The main disadvantage of this system is that wearing of peristaltic tube may occur.

CONCLUSION

A car without properly inflated tyres has higher rolling resistance and therefore consumes more fuel. This system will automatically inflate the tyre to the proper pressure and therefore eliminate under inflation faults .This system will allow you to drive your car with a nail or screw in tyre until the vehicle come to rest.
