Aims of questionnaire

The survey that I will create and distribute will help me to determine important factors about what my audience will want to see and read about. My results will help me to interpret which celebrity or band my audience like and will want to hear about, as well as which feature designs they most prefer, for example which font type they like. I will be able to incorporate my findings into my magazine and hopefully the findings will indicate what people want to see in my magazine, thus making my magazine attractive and fulfilling the viewers inadequacys (Robert Dyers utopian solution theory). I want a variety of people to fill out my questionnaire so that I can see what a broader collection of people want in a music magazine. I will dispense my questionnaire within people in my class, friends, other sixth-formers, teachers, lower school, family, neighbours and people from a high street and shopping centre. By doing this I hope to have a range of results from a mixed group of people who idolise a music magazine differently. At first however, I will make a pilot questionnaire so that I can find out if my questions make sense, spelling errors and if my questions are suitable for public dispense.

Pilot questionnaire
Below are the questions to my pilot questionnaire. I made a pilot questionnaire to check Grammar, Spelling and if the questions are appropriate or not. I handed the questionnaire to five people and examined the results so that I could make alterations to questions so that they are the best they can be for the final questionnaire. I realise however I will be including more questions in my questionnaire because I require more information about the contents of my magazine, but this pilot question has given a lot of information about the questions asked and the way I can set out my final questionnaire. Pilot questionnaire
I received good, useful information from all of the Pilot questionnaires that I received back. I had five questions in the Pilot questionnaire which I had thought about using for my final questionnaire, and question six asked about any issues regarding any of the other questions. Questionnaire six was my main focus because it would tell me if the other questions were suitable or indicate any problems. In three of the questionnaires that I received back, I was told that there was nothing wrong with my Pilot questionnaire, however on the other two that I handed out, I was told that question one should have a space to write the genre of music instead of boxes. I liked this idea because it would look neater and genres not listed could be written. I was also told by one of the participants in my Pilot questionnaire that question four should have clearer age brackets, because the participant didnt know where to write his age and looking back I didnt include an age bracket for 20-30 year olds. I like the criticisms that I obtained back because they will be used to improve my final questionnaire. Since non of the participants identified there being no age bracket for 20-30 year olds I want to test my final questionnaire rigorously before I distribute it; I will do this by getting an English teacher to check for correct punctuation and Grammar, asking my family to sift through to spot any inappropriate features and asking my friends to fill the questionnaire out(I will not use data from my friends or family, but I will concentrate on their answers to see if they spotted any unfitting elements in the questionnaire or if they couldnt answer a question for any reason).

Final questionnaire
I found through my pilot questionnaire that I needed to rigorously check and edit my questionnaire for grammar, punctuation and if the question could be understood and completed. I took a lot of factors into consideration due to my questionnaire, so that my final questionnaire could be the best it could be. I am very pleased with my final questionnaire because every question, in every questionnaire was completed without help

Final questionnaire

In total I handed out five Pilot questionnaires and twenty final questionnaires. I am very pleased with the results from both. The questionnaires helped me a lot in planning and creating my magazine. I have looked at the content in my magazine extensively to check it is what the viewer wants to see according to data from my questionnaire, for example, question eight in my question told me the first contents page was liked most, so I have tried to stick to a similar layout. All of my questions in my questionnaire had a purpose behind them, for example, the purpose to question four was to see how I should prioritise my time so that favoured features are address first and thoroughly. I would not change any question in my question, but I would add more for more data, for example, the addition of a question about favourite layouts would have been useful.
