Cultural diversity:
Definition of Culture: Culture means attitude, beliefs, and values that arise from ones sociocultural background . Usually people follow the spiritual and religious traditions of their family s origin children learn the importance of religious practice, including moral values from family relationships and from participation in religious activity.

Spiritual health: Spirituality is defined as the experience and expressions of ones own sprit in a unique and dynamic process reflecting faith in god. Faith is the belief in someone or something. Health is defined as the state of wellbeing in as aspects that are physical, emotional, psychological, social, & spiritual health SPIRITUAL HEALTH : INNER PEACE , COMFORT WITH ONES SUPREM POWER. SPIRITUAL HEALTH IS ACHIVED WHEN A PERSON FINDS BALANCE BETWEEN HIS OWN LIFEVALUES, GOLES, AND BELIEF SYSTEM & THOSE OF OTHERS.

SPIRITUAL HEALTH /SPIRITUAL WELLBEING:IT IS MANIFESTED BY A FEELING OF BEING PEACEFUL GENERALLY ALIVE PURPOSEFUL. Characteristics of spiritual health: Sense of inner peace Humor Generosity Gratitude Compassion for others Capacity of unconditional love Appreciation of both unity & diversity. wisdom

Spiritual needs; Need for love Need for hope Need for trust Need for forgiveness Need for to be respected & valued Need for dignity Need for meaning Need for creativity Need for sense of purpose Need for connected with god Need for belonging to community. Need for values.

Factors affecting spiritual health 1. Culture 2. Gender 3. Previous experience 4. Crises & change 5. Separation from spiritual ties 6. Factors across the life span 7. Physiological factors. 8. Moral issues regarding spiritual therapy.

Role of nurse in spirituality: 1. Assessement; Assess the patient on concept of god 2. Source of hope & strength 3. Religious practice and rituals 4. Importance of patient on spirituality & religion. 5. Whether illness has effected the belief or faith on god. 6. Assess patient for any spiritual distress like lack of hope in cancer patients; fearing for death, worrying for separation for lacking love; relationship with god;feeling forgiveness.

Nursing diagnosis: spiritual distress related to loss of love ; sense of guilt. Risk for spiritual distress related to loss of loved ones; Dysfunctional grieving r/t loss of loved ones. Ineffective coping related to loss of the loved ones : psychiatric disorder ; alchoholism.

Planning :The nurse must plan the nursing care of he clients who have spiritual distress, in order to make the client to come out out the problem & to maintain good further spiritual life. Help the client create, MAINTAIN GOOD RELETION SHIP WITH ALL ONCEAGAIN. Help the client to meet the need for the love expressed though relationship. Help the client to search for meaning of spirituality & create a need of hope & for good future.

Interventions A. Communicating about spiritual needs. B. Use therapeutic communication. C. Accompany client in spirituality & provide time to pray. D. Promote therapeutic environment. E. Help client to maintain relationship. F. Supporting clients religious practices. All the above intervensions have to be implemented & evaluation has to be checked.

Stress: stress is the excess pressure in human life it represents an un easy experience. SOURCES: Environmental stress; noise, pollution, trafic, weather. Physiological stressors; Illness, injuries, hormonal fluctuations,, inadequate sleep or nutrition. Social stressors: Financial problems, work demands, social events, Losing a loved one etc.

Thoughts; negative self thinking & negative undestanding. Change of any kind can induce stress; Fear of new things; fear of conflict; fear of taking a risk. Individual personalities that can induce stress; Low self esteem., Feeling of loss of control, Fear of failure. Interpersonal relational relationship; Lack of healthy relationship System ; lack of leadership, un co-operative atmosphere. Lack of team work, confused communication.

Symptoms of stress; Physical symptoms muscle tension colds or other illness, High blood pressure, Indigestion; Ulcers; Difficulty in sleeping , Fatigue, Headache, Back, or neck problems.

EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS:
Irritability, Depression, Anger, Fear & anxiety, feelings over whelmed(over excited), Moods swings.

MANAGEMENT; take a deep breadth , specific relaxation techniques-meditation, self hyposis., manage time, connect with others, take it out, take a minute vacation, monitor your physical comfort, get physical, take care of eating, laugh, know your limits, think positive,compromise, hav good cry,

Adaptive behavior ; is defined as the degrees with which the individual meets the standards of personal independence and social responsibility expected of his age and cultural group. Adaptation is mainly over coming the problem by adjustment.
