INTRODUCTION
Presently, energy meter is postpaid energy meter. does not get instantaneous information about payment to be made elec. Board. does not know liability towards live electricity supply agency/board.

We
buy a certain amount of electricity by paying the money to electricity board & they will issue a card, which will store the units you have purchased & the money you have paid. is beneficial to enhance liability of user to electricity board.

It is used here to measure the current through line & to measure the approximate energy consumption also. converter Micro controller can not read analog o/p thats why we use a A/D converter to convert the CTs output into 8 bit parallel data. Display To display alphabets for massages & digits for readings we required a alphanumeric LCD display

EEPROM
R/W EEPROM requires different voltage levels to program, we need a voltage level shifter or Converter to interface it with microcontroller which have only two level outputs 5VDC & 0V DC. (SIM) Its a two terminal memory device which stores the information about the energy in a predefined format.

Key
Pad This section consist only two keys one to reset the controller & other is to provide the pulses from the external meter. & Beeper It generates a beeping sound on over loading & reserve mode. & stripping unit To disconnect the consumers supply when the remaining amount reaches to zero.

LIMITATION
For
more accurate observation A/D must be used with 10 or more bits O/P lines.

Future Enhancements
The
energy calculation can also be added by using PT So that we can avoid the need of ext. meter completely. can also use same microcontroller which contains the A/D so it will reduce the circuit size.
