SEMINAR ON BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY

PRESENTED BY: KAPIL KUMAR

BLUETOOTH
WHAT IS BLUETOOTH? Bluetooth is global standard for wireless connectivity based on low-cost short range radio. It is a radio frequency (RF) technology utilizing the 2.4 GHz Industrial Scientific Medicine(ISM) band which can support both data and voice transmissions.

CONNECTING WITH BLUETOOTH

RADIO INTERFERENCE FROM IN BAND USERS

BLUETOOTH COMPONENTS

An RF transceiver for receiving and transmitting data A module with a baseband microprocessor Memory An interface to the host devices such as mobile phone

BLUETOOTH ARCHITECTURE

2.4Ghz band is required for transmitting and receiving data. Bluetooth link controller provides transmission channel for data and voice. Link manager controls hardware such as link setup, security and control

BLUETOOTH CONNECTIONS TOPOLOGIES

BLUE TOOTH COMMUNICATION

Operating frequency band 2400 MHz to 2483.5 MHz Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum 79 hop channels at 1 MHz channel separation Dwell (slot) Time at any one channel is 625 micro seconds Hop rate is 1600 hops per second

TIME SLOTS

BLUETOOTH PROTOCOL LAYERS

COMPARISON BETWEEN BLUETOOTH AND IRDA

BLUETOOTH Range normally 10m Transmitting rate is 1 Mbits/sec Omni directional

Can penetrate walls Multiple connections

INFRARED Range normally 5m Transmitting rate is 4Mbits/sec Line of sight operation Blocked by walls Single connections.

APPLICATIONS OF BLUETOOTH

HOME The three in one phone Smart home

OFFICE The automatic security system The interactive conference

APPLICATIONS CONTD..

TRAVELERS Automatic check in and automatic checkout

BLUETOOTH INTEGRATION PROCESS

When integrating Bluetooth technology into host products the following factors need to be considered Does application require both audio and data transmission What are the required data rates To embed on silicon chip or use existing separate modules Selection of appropriate hardware and software

BLUETOOTH QUALIFICATION
