ORIGIN OF CRY
Origin of the name. Founded in 1979 by Rippan kapur and 6 friends Role of ENABLERS.

Ordinary man driven by an extraordinary dream.

Restoration of basic rights Looking at the childrens ssue in entirety. Finding the root cause of deprivation.

Providing a long term solution.


To make every one aware of the development initiatives.

MISSION
To work for the development and upliftment of deprived children. To ensure equal oppurtunities for all.

To take strict action against any type of child abuse.

BELIEFS
Children are citizens in their own rights.

Cry does not believe in charity.

FUNCTIONS
Resource mobilization. Youth wing. Information technology.

It extends financial & non-financial support to : Individuals and projects working directly with under priveleged children.

Resource organizations who provide training and education.

Nodal agencies who function as miniature crys to increase their reach. Strategic alliances or networks, whose aim is to facilitate the

transfer of learning, building solidarity & influence policy.

People think that when they support CRY, funds go to CRY. Not many are aware that CRY supports 171 odd NGOs across the country working on children's issues. Do you think CRY should address this dimension of its largeness ? How do you define governance ?

How can an NGO be governed better ?


How difficult/easy it is to make NGO accountable and transparent ?

How then does cry raise resources ? Will my small contribution make a difference to this overwhelming problem? Why does cry not give the names of children to donors?

Are cry employees paid for their work ?

FUNDING
Sale of the products like greeting cards, stationery, calendars etc. Donations from concerned individuals and organizations.

No funding from government.

GROWTH
24 Years Partnered to 100000 individuals. 300 child development initiatives in the country. Helped over 1 million children across the nation.

MILESTONES
1979- Register Cry as Indian charitable trust. 1980- Cards division starts operation. Sold 30000 CRY greeting cards. 1981- Parishar asha CRYs 1st long term education project. 1982- Delhi ,Mumbai office started. 1983- Focus widens toEducation,Health,Family Planning
