RISK ASSESSMENTS

Department/Area E21 DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY For editing our footage HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

Date of Assessment: 5/12/11

Assessment No: 2

It is a small room, confined area, lots of electrical equipment and cables around.

PERSONS AT RISK (who might be harmed and how? are there any groups especially at risk?) Crew: As we will be spending most of our time in the editing suite as editing and putting together the footage is the most important thing so we have to beware of the electrical cables from the macs. Also the cables underneath the desk. It is also a small room so if someone trips over the other people and equipment will be affected. The spinning chair also can be a hazard because you might fall back or roll over someones foot; also the wheels could get caught up on loose cables. It is a very small room so overcrowding could become a hazard especially if there is a fire.

EXISTING PRECAUTIONS (what controls are currently in place?) We will make sure everyone is informed in the risks, we will also put a limit on how many people are allowed in the room at any one time. We will also keep the fire exit clear from any obstructions. There is a lot of cables so making sure they are tucked away is a major priority and taping them down.

other risk assessments

ANALYSIS OF EXISTING PRECAUTIONS (are the precautions effective; if not, why not?) The precautions should be effective because it will give the participants better understanding of the hazards that surround them. Therefore, they can avoid danger and have the knowledge that they can be safe on site. ACTION REQUIRED (what further action needs to be taken to control/reduce the risk?) Action Inform participents about the risks of loose cables Make sure the limit of people in the room is to our limit Make sure nothing is obstructing fire exits at all time Make sure the spinning chairs are being used properly at all times By whom Lucy Comely Michealla Dem Gaby Cosser Andy A Target date 7/12/11 7/12/11 7/12/11 7/12/11 Date completed 10/12/11 10/12/11 10/12/11 10/12/11
