Brief on Background Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was launched during 2007-08 with an outlay of Rs.25,000 crore for the 11th Five Year Plan. District Agriculture Plans (DAPs) and the State Agriculture Plan (SAP). Major crops of East district are large cardamom, Mandarin, Ginger, Tomato, Cole Crops,other vegetable paddy, Mustard, Buckwheat, Millet, Soyabean. The district fast emerging as the floriculture hubs as the production of Rose, Lilium, Cymbidiun have been started commercially. There is decline in the area and productivity of Cardamom, Maize,Sikkim Mandrin in the district whereas area under Ginger and Vegetables crops in increasing. Crops like Kiwi fruits, Rose, Lilium, Capsicum etc. are new introducing with great potential. Most of the soils of the district are acidic in nature with high rate of soil loss due to erosion. The soils are high in organic carbon,lowmedium available nitrogen and phosphorous and medium to high Click potassium. to edit Master subtitle style There exist significant gaps between actual and attainable yields. Low availability of quality seeds/planting materials/stocks, organic manures,Biopesticides,non-standardization and non adoption of improved production practices are major constraints leading to yields gaps. The eligibility for assistance from the Centre under the scheme would depend upon the State Government providing amounts in the Plan Budget of the State for 5/12/12 agriculture and allied sectors over the baseline expenditure.

1. The farmer has multiple choices for marketing his produce. Apart from the traditional APMCs, he can now sell in the MTMs also 2. The farmer realizes the right value for his produce. This is enabled through the assurance of the right price for right quality and correct weig hment 3. There is a greater convenience for selling his produce and the cash settlement is also faster when compared to the traditional markets 4. There are better infrastructural facilities in the MTM which reduce the wastage of his produce. Also, he can store his produce at the MTM itself in case of a non remunerative price till such time when he can realize a satisfactory price for his produce 5. Increased share of the consumer rupee
